Disney revealed new images from Star Wars series Ahsoka at this weekend’s D23 Expo. Ahsoka Tano made her on-screen debut as an animated character in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the much better received seven-season animated series of the same name that followed. Introduced as Anakin Skywalker’s Jedi Padawan, the Togruta warrior became a fan-favorite character in animated form before making a much-anticipated foray into live-action in The Mandalorian season 2.

After Rosario Dawson’s two stellar appearances as live-action Ahsoka in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, audiences are even more excited for her Disney+ spin-off show, which began filming earlier this year. While not much information has been released about the series, it will take place after the events of Return of the Jedi and feature other characters from the animated series Star Wars Rebels, including Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) and Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi). During Disney’s D23 Expo, viewers eagerly anticipated more information about the live-action Ahsoka.

Now, the first images from Ahsoka have been revealed by Jon Favreau at D23. One glimpse of the series features the first look at live-action Sabine, though her face is not visible as she is gazing up at a mural of herself and her crewmates from Rebels. Check the images out below:

While these images don’t offer much information in terms of story, it’s exciting to see the Jedi’s return to live-action, lightsaber in hand. Theories for the plot of the show, bolstered by Dawson’s appearances in other Star Wars properties, center on a live-action continuation of Star Wars Rebels, with Ahsoka teaming up with Sabine to search for Ezra after his disappearance with Grand Admiral Thrawn. The Rebels mural in this first look as well as Ahsoka’s mission to find Thrawn in The Mandalorian support this plotline. It remains to be seen whether Ahsoka will feature live-action flashbacks showing what Ahsoka and the other Rebels characters were up to before their appearances in the spin-off, but that prospect has viewers even more eager for the series.

Sabine’s live-action debut opens up a world of possibilities in the Star Wars live-action television universe. Given her status as a Mandalorian and her grip on her helmet in these first images, it’s possible that she could interact with titular Mandalorian Din Djarin in a crossover somewhere down the road as both series continue, especially since he has already met Ahsoka. Hopefully, a trailer for Ahsoka will be released soon so fans can see more of the titular force user as well as Sabine and Ezra in their live-action debuts.
