Eight new shows will join Lucasfilm’s Star Wars TV lineup after The Book of Boba Fett. As a spinoff of The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett was the second live-action Star Wars TV series, and one of several new installments in the franchise centered on iconic characters from its universe. Many more will follow in the years to come.

What started with The Mandalorian has launched into something massive. The success of The Mandalorian led to greater confidence in Star Wars’ future in TV and announcements for even more shows, including the animated Star Wars: The Bad Batch and The Book of Boba Fett, the latter of which being a series that built off events that played out in The Mandalorian season 2 finale. Similar to aforementioned series, it’s entirely possible that The Book of Boba Fett will receive additional seasons, which the finale did leave room for in the future. That being said, no plans for The Book of Boba Fett have been officially announced as of yet.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Even so, Lucasfilm still has a stacked lineup of Star Wars shows currently on its slate, regardless of what it plans to do with Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) next. One of its planned shows, Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic, is no longer in development, but eight more are confirmed to be arriving on Disney+ over the next few years. Here’s every Star Wars TV series releasing after The Book of Boba Fett.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

The show expected to be Star Wars’ third live-action series is the highly-anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi, which will see Ewan McGregor return to the role of the heroic Jedi master. The series will be set within the long gap between Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and the original 1977 movie. This means the show will explore the period when Obi-Wan was one of the last remaining Jedi. During this time, he was watching over young Luke Skywalker, who was in the care of the Lars family. For this reason, it’s no surprise that Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse (who played the husband-and-wife couple in the prequels) will be back for Obi-Wan Kenobi. Also appearing in the story in some capacity is Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker, who has only recently made his transformation into Darth Vader at this point in time. As for when the show will premiere, it’s been reported that an early May release is likely.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch

Before it wrapped up its 16-episode first season in August 2021, it was confirmed that Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2 was in development. Reportedly, the animated show will be back in the spring of this year, though an exact release date hasn’t been officially announced yet. The next season should continue the action-packed exploits of the rogue clone troopers that make up Clone Force 99, who may remain on the run from the villainous Empire for years to come.

Andor

Andor will follow Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor, the Rebel spy who helped to oppose the Galactic Empire’s forces in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The show, which will take place five years before the events depicted in the film, has been described by Lucasfilm as a “spy thriller” that deal with the Rebels’ efforts against their imperial enemies. Forrest Whitaker will return as Rogue One’s Saw Gerrara, with other cast members including Stellan Skarsgård, Fiona Shaw, Genevieve O’Reilly, and more. Filming for the series, which is confirmed for a 2022 release, has already concluded. For now, the general expectation is that Andor will premiere between July and September.

The Mandalorian Season 3

Episodes of The Book of Boba Fett provided some unexpected teases of what The Mandalorian season 3 has to offer. Due to developments that occurred in Boba Fett’s show, Mando (Pedro Pacal) is back in the company of Grogu. Plus, he has a brand-new ship and a new goal, which is to earn his redemption and restore his place among his fellow Mandalorians. What transpired in The Book of Boba Fett’s final three episodes served as clear setup for Din Djarin’s next story, which has certainly been a long time coming. The Mandalorian season 2 ended in December 2020, and the next season may not kick off until late 2022. The wait has come as a result of Lucasfilm being busy with The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, and possibly other setbacks as well.

Ahsoka

Ahsoka Tano, a fan-favorite, original character from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, was given the live-action treatment for the first time in The Mandalorian. Played by Rosario Dawson, she made a guest appearance in a season 2 episode, followed by an announcement that the actress would star as the character in her own Disney+ TV series. Ahead of Dawson’s forthcoming return in Ahsoka, the Jedi appeared again in The Book of Boba Fett episode 6. Based on hints provided by her role on The Mandalorian, Ahsoka could be on the trail of recurring Star Wars antagonist Grand Admiral Thrawn. Thrawn has appeared in various Star Wars installments, including Star Wars: Rebels, but has never been shown in live-action before. That could change whenever Ahsoka debuts on Disney+.

The Acolyte

Arguably the most mysterious TV project on the slate for Star Wars is The Acolyte, a series from Russian Doll co-creator Leslye Headland. Among the few confirmed details about the show concern its setting, which will be the end of the High Republic period, an early era in the Star Wars timeline that predates all of the existing movies and shows. Very little is known about the characters featured in the series, but the main protagonist is believed to be a female hero, who may be played by Amandla Stenberg. With filming of its eight-episode story expected to begin in mid-2022, the show could release in the first half of 2023.

Lando

Star Wars may not continue the stories for any of Solo’s characters on the big screen anytime soon after the movie failed at the box office, but at least one — Lando — still has a future in the franchise in the form of his own TV series. Donald Glover played a younger version of Billy Dee Williams’ Lando Calrissian in the film. For this reason, Glover has the potential to headline the series for Lucasfilm, but the actor’s return hasn’t been made official yet. Alternatively, the show’s star could be Williams instead. As a result of the lingering uncertainly over who will play Lando, it’s hard to say where it will take place in the timeline of events. Either way, there’s a significant portion of Lando’s life that was never explored in the Star Wars movies, thus giving it plenty of room to tell new stories about the Baron of Cloud City. The show is being written by Dear White People creator Justin Simien. Since there haven’t been reports about any progress being made on the show, the series may not release until late 2023, or possibly even 2024.

A Droid Story

R2-D2, who had cameos in both The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, will co-star in an animated Disney+ special alongside his longtime ally, C-3PO. The classic droid duo, who have appeared together in every Star Wars movie, will lead A Droid Story, which will herald the introduction of “a new hero”, presumably at some point in 2022. For the time being, it’s unclear who this character will be or if Star Wars’ plans for them extend beyond the upcoming Disney+ special.
