Players of Animal Crossing: New Horizons have learned to expect the game’s familiar, rotating limited-time events and items. However, as the game receives updates, familiar events get new items and new events are added to the game’s packed roster. September 2021 grants players lots of well-known content to look forward to, as well as a small but new addition.

September in Animal Crossing: New Horizons marks the beginning of fall and the return of last year’s craftable autumn items. There are plenty of items that players can look forward to obtaining this month, either through crafting or via Nook’s Cranny. However, as the fall season officially runs from September 1 to November 25 (in the northern hemisphere), some fall events won’t be covered here.

Southern hemisphere players won’t get to experience fall this time of year, however – unless those players choose to time travel in Animal Crossing. Instead, if a player’s island is in the southern hemisphere, their island should be experiencing the end of winter and the beginning of spring. There are still tons of fun events and items available to those players, though, such as Young Spring Bamboo.

Animal Crossing September 2021 Event: Acorns and Pinecones

September 1 marks the beginning of the fan-favorite Acorns and Pinecones crafting event. Fall items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are great to add a cozy touch to any player’s island. When Isabelle announces that she’s been seeing pinecones and acorns on the ground, players can expect to begin to find them across their island. In order to obtain acorns and pinecones for crafting, players must shake the full-grown trees they have planted – for acorns, players should shake hardwood trees, and for pinecones, players should shake cedar trees.

These pinecones and acorns can be used to craft Autumn DIY Crafting Recipes. There are a total of 11 recipes to obtain. Finding these recipes mostly depends on luck, as most can be found in balloons and must subsequently be shot down. However, at the beginning of the fall season, if a player hasn’t already obtained the Tree’s Bounty Little Tree DIY recipe, Isabelle, Tom Nook’s employee responsible for running the morning announcements, will gift the recipe to the player.

Animal Crossing September 2021 Event: Grape Harvest Festival

Last year, players got their first taste of the Grape Harvest Festival – and, luckily, the Grape Harvest Festival is returning in 2021 with the Grape-Harvest basket, which players can obtain from the Nook Shopping App or from the terminal in the Resident Services building. This backpack is stylish and is a welcome change to the usual food items that come with these types of small events. This event runs from September 1 to September 30.

Animal Crossing September 2021 Event: Moon Viewing Day and Chuseok

Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can expect yet another familiar event to return this September – Moon Viewing Day runs from September 12 to 21. However, while players can obtain the hit Moon Rug from 2020’s Moon Viewing Day event, this year, they can expect to see a few new items added to the Nook Shopping App. All three can be obtained via the special goods section. Nintendo has also added one new event – Chuseok. This event runs on the same dates as Moon Viewing Day. Players can obtain the food item Songpyeon in the special goods section of the Nook Shopping App. However, while a new event is exciting, it would still be great to see more new events in the future.
