One dedicated artist and fan of Animal Crossing: New Horizons has managed to fit every single character into a drawing. With over 400 villagers available to inhabit player’s islands plus a large number of NPCs, it’s an undertaking that very few even consider. But this fanart proves that the feat is more than possible.

When Animal Crossing: New Horizons launched in March 2020, few expected it to be the massive runaway hit it ended up becoming. While the life simulation game has always been a moderate success for Nintendo, it was mostly seen as a niche title. As of this writing, Nintendo has reportedly sold over 31 million copies of the game. This firmly puts the Animal Crossing series in with Nintendo’s other flagship titles, like Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Reddit user Bluesonified, real name Yousuf Hassan, shared his take on New Horizons’ extensive cast. While the fanart only features the heads of the characters, every single one is accounted for. With 13 thousand upvotes and over 200 comments, it’s clear that the fanart is resonating with the AC: NH community. The Twitter variant is also doing well – over a thousand retweets, five thousand likes, and 155 replies (as of writing). Hassan admitted in a reply that he ran out of space towards the end, resulting in the smaller visages seen in the bottom-right corner.

The comments are overwhelmingly positive, with people frantically searching for their favorite villager among the sea of faces. There is widespread acclaim for Hassan’s art style, with the most common comparison being to something from Cartoon Network. Many are calling for the fanart to be sold as either a collectible print or as a puzzle. A few even say he could make a fortune selling it as an NFT. There is no word on if Hassan will take these suggestions to heart, however.

The community for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is massive and shows no signs of slowing down. Given that the game is delivered with consistent updates and is designed to be played for years, this isn’t much of a surprise. Hassan’s art is a perfect example – it’s time-consuming, but the result is something unique and remarkable. The fanart also showcases the diverse character design. Even characters that might look unappealing still have their fans, due to personal experiences with the franchise. Everybody has their own one-of-a-kind island life, and each villager has their own place in the fandom’s heart.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
