Destiny 2‘s Witch Queen expansion, the next chapter in Bungie’s epic sci-fi shooter, is here – and it brings a handful of bugs and issues along with it. This is to be expected for any game launch, especially for a live-service game on the scale of Destiny. While the majority of these issues shouldn’t have major effects on a player’s ability to enjoy the new content, they may still be helpful to know about.

Going into its fifth year since its initial release, Destiny 2 has come a long way. While the shooter at the core of the game has remained largely consistent, the game has seen massive overhauls to various systems and the introduction and removal of entire playspaces through the Destiny 2 “content vault”. As is the nature of a live-service game, these changes will continue through future expansions Lightfall and The Final Shape. This contributes to the feeling of an ever-changing world for the players’ Guardians to explore.

The Witch Queen puts the Guardians on the tail of Savathûn, the Hive God of Trickery. Players jumping into the new adventure should be aware of several issues present within the game at launch. Bungie is no doubt working hard to fix these problems, though it may be difficult for players to be patient around upcoming hotfixes and updates. Until then, here are known bugs within Destiny 2‘s newest expansion.

Destiny 2’s Witch Queen Expansion Has System, Activity, & Sandbox Bugs

Destiny‘s weapon sandbox is huge, with tons of moving parts and places for things to go wrong. At present, Overload mods from the artifact in Season of the Risen don’t work as intended; while affected weapons are able to stun Champions, they don’t disrupt the enemy’s health regeneration – a scary prospect for players seeking to complete high-level content, where Destiny 2‘s somewhat contentious Champion system adds to difficulty. Additionally, the glaive, a new weapon for The Witch Queen, has a few issues: the perk Grave Robber is disabled on the legendary glaive The Enigma, and glaive melee kills don’t count towards kill tracker progress or for the purposes of activating melee-focused perks. In addition, various cosmetic items aren’t consistently displaying lights when certain shaders are applied.

From bounties to playlist activities to raids, Destiny features many ways to play; small bugs within these activities are slightly disrupting the game. PsiOps Battlegrounds, a new playlist activity, doesn’t display the recommended Power Level at launch. Bounties aren’t consistently counting enemies with the Volatile debuff if killed with AoE damage. Treasure chests and destination materials in the new Witch Queen Throne World patrol zone don’t appear for certain Ghost mods intended to track these collectibles. Lastly, the new Wellspring activity seems to have a few bugs – players can become trapped beneath barricades, and may see interact prompts unassociated with the activity.

Perhaps the largest hiccup, players on the PlayStation 4 were unable to pre-load the game’s files, needing to wait until 9 AM PST on February 22 to begin the 72GB download, though Xbox players weren’t spared either, as they may experience framerate drops when opening full inventories. It’s a slightly rocky launch for Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, but Bungie is continuing to investigate these issues, and players are able to report issues at the Bungie.net Help Forum.
