The streaming service market has successfully attracted subscribers from all over the world. People who grew up watching family sitcoms on cable can now watch them anytime online with just a few clicks. Those who grew up in the 1990s had the chance to experience ABC’s TGIF in real time. The programming block offered over a decade of quality entertainment and memorable characters.

TGIF lived on in syndication, and families in the 2000s were able to enjoy reruns of these great sitcoms on networks like Disney Channel, ABC Family, and even Nickelodeon’s Nick at Nite block. It can be confusing to track down all the sitcoms on streaming platforms, but this guide has all the details on where to find them between Hulu, Netflix, and Disney+.

8 Perfect Strangers (Hulu)

Perfect Strangers (1986-1993) centers on Larry Appleton, a Wisconsonite who strikes out on his own in Chicago, Illinois. Larry’s very distant Mediterranean cousin, Balki Bartokomous, decides to move to America and invites himself to Larry’s new apartment. The cousins are so far removed that they’ve never even met, hence the show’s title.

Even though this sitcom doesn’t focus on family with kids or teenagers, Larry and Balki form a marvelous, quirky family of their own. The sitcom is a true TGIF pioneer and is still loved by many.

7 Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper (Hulu)

Mark Curry is Mr. Cooper in Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper (1992-1997). He was once an NBA basketball player, but he pivots to coaching and teaching school in Oakland, California.

Mark lives with two gorgeous female roommates, one of whom he pursues a romantic relationship with. The handsome bachelor learns a lot about himself as he navigates the changes in his career. He truly helps the young people in his life and takes in his cousin and her daughter (played by Raven-Symoné) in the second season.

6 Family Matters (Hulu)

Family Matters ran from 1989 to 1998 and is most remembered for Steve Urkel (Jaleel White), the neighbor who walked in one day and never left. Steve loves to hang out with the Winslow family, even though the feeling is unreciprocated for a long time. Carl Winslow is a police officer, and his wife Harriette starts out on the show as an elevator operator.

The Chicago parents work hard to support their three children, Eddie, Laura, and Judy (the one who disappears without explanation), but they frequently have other family members living in their home. Even when Urkel’s fantastical scientific experiments start to get out of hand, the show is a warm family sitcom at its heart.

5 Sabrina The Teenage Witch (Hulu)

Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996-2003) brought exactly the right dose of magic to TGIF. Sabrina learns in the first episode, on her sixteenth birthday, that she is a witch. The high school student can’t believe it at first, but she grows into her powers in the the same way that she matures to young adulthood: a little bit at a time.

Sabrina lives with her Aunts Hilda and Zelda, who are both witches. The early seasons have a special charm that comes from Sabrina’s honest navigation of friendships and rivalries, but fans also love the college years of the later seasons. With a dose of reality from Salem the talking cat, settle into seven delightful seasons.

4 Step By Step (Hulu)

Frank and Carol Lambert are madly in love and ready to start a new life–with two sets of siblings who couldn’t be more different. Carol has Dana, Karen, and Mark. All are well-dressed (especially fashionista Karen), and Dana and Mark thrive on their intelligence in various ways. Frank has J.T., Al, and Brendan.

What you see is what you get with this athletic bunch. The Lamberts and Fosters aren’t exactly fast friends, which makes the show perfectly imperfect and especially rewarding when the stepsiblings start to find common ground. Check out the 1991-1998 sitcom on Hulu.

3 Boy Meets World (Disney+)

Boy Meets World (1993-2000) is currently the only TGIF classic on Disney+ (it was formerly on Hulu). The series begins with Cory, Shawn, and Topanga in the sixth grade but quickly ages them up to high school. Cory has great parents, an increasingly ditzy older brother named Eric, and a little sister named Morgan who is famously recast after the show’s early years.

This show is rightly upheld as a gold standard in televised friendship, first love, and mentorship. Cory has the gift of living right next door to his longtime teacher, Mr. Feeny. From the first episode to the last goodbye, this is a 90s show worth watching.

2 Sister, Sister (Netflix)

Tia Landry and Tamera Campbell on Sister, Sister (1994-1999) are believable and lovable sisters because they are played by the coolest twins in Hollywood. Separated at birth, they meet coincidentally at a department store in the Detroit area.

From there, the twins’ adoptive parents decide to help Tia and Tamera get to know each other under one roof. Growing up isn’t easy, but having a newfound twin makes it all worth it. The show started on ABC and moved to the WB halfway through its first run. A huge generation of millennials came of age watching Sister, Sister reruns on Disney Channel.

1 Full House (Hulu)

Full House (1987-1995) is possibly the most recognizable show from the TGIF block. It had a long run at eight seasons, which allowed viewers to see DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle grow up and experience relatable challenges as sisters. The stories became more complex as the series went on, involving new relationships and phases of life for the kids and the adults.
