The space horror/murder mystery game Among Ushas taken the internet by storm, and while the game itself features pretty minimalistic graphics, some amazingly detailed fan-art shows highlights how horrifying the game actually is. Hundred of thousands of players have flooded to Among Us two years after its initial launch, and this piece of artwork hits close to home for many of its current player base.

Among Us describes itself as a social deduction game that pits players against one another to decide which crewmate is the imposter. The imposter’s goal is to go undetected while killing all the other crewmates. Crewmates are challenged with completing tasks and ejecting the imposter. The only catch is that the imposter and crewmates look identical, and it is up to players to converse with one another to decide who is the imposter. While the death animations are somewhat jarring, the manipulative mind games are even more horrifying.

Twitter user and head of NewBlood Dave Oshry tweeted an amazing piece of Among Us fan-art with some hilariously relatable captions. The three-panel comic shows realistic spacemen colored to look like the crewmates in Among Us. The first panel depicts the imposter dragging a severed body away from the scene of the murder when a crewmate stumbles upon the gruesome scene. The next panel shows the same crewmate running away from the alienlike imposter to hit the emergency meeting button before becoming the imposter’s next victim. And lastly, the crewmate attempts to persuade the other crewmates into believing his horrific story, but it is no use against the imposter’s charisma.

For those who have enjoyed watching Among Us streams or playing the game with friends, this scene happens all too often. If a player places themselves in the vicinity of the body while presenting their case, it can be turned on them to make them look guilty. These situations are terrifying to be in because it’s difficult to tell who the real imposter is, and even those who are telling the truth can be put in precarious situations. Not to mention, the way in which the imposter kills crewmates is also a horrendous experience.

But all of this cruelty is masked with bright colored spacesuits and cute mini-games so it’s hard to see the truly horrifying nature when playing normally. Thanks to this fan-art, players can see the truth behind their actions even if they are confined to a $5 party game. Now knowing the truth, maybe Among Us players will think before they brutally murder one another either as the imposter or as crewmates.
