A stellar fan poster for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 imagines Gwen Stacy somehow returning as Venom. Back before Spider-Man swung into the MCU with Tom Holland, Sony attempted to kick off its own Marvel universe with the Amazing Spider-Man franchise. Andrew Garfield starred as Peter Parker, while Emma Stone played his love interest Gwen. Despite Sony’s big plans for The Amazing Spider-Man, the series only got off two installments before grinding to a halt; lukewarm responses from fans and critics, coupled with less-than-hoped-for box office returns led the studio to reconsider their plans going forward.

However, though audiences might not have been taken with The Amazing Spider-Man the first time around, recent months have seen an uptick in interest. That is because Garfield reprised his Peter for the MCU’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, a jam-packed multiversal adventure that brought back actors from past Spidey franchises. Garfield’s return, which featured a poignant moment alluding to Gwen’s death, has led many fans to take to social media with calls for Sony to make The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

The mere idea of a third film involving Garfield’s Spider-Man has led to numerous fan works considering what could happen. A new fan poster from freelance artist Pablo imagines a scenario for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 that sees Stone’s Gwen returning, albeit in a vastly different form than before. Gwen is now the host of the Venom symbiote, thus setting up a rather intriguing hypothetical dynamic. Check it out down below.

The inclusion of Venom in this fan poster fits with the general conversation that has sprung up around a potential Amazing Spider-Man 3. Sony’s current Marvel universe revolves around a growing number of Spider-Man villains, and Venom (Tom Hardy) is its most prominent member. Fans have been especially interested in the idea of Garfield fighting Venom in a future movie, and that is likely where the concept for this poster came from. Of course, the addition of Gwen adds a new twist to this setup and makes it even more devastating.

Sadly, though, there are no official plans for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 just yet. There have been rumblings of a Spider-Man joining Sony’s Marvel universe, with Morbius director Dan Espinosa even confirming one is supposed to exist. Whether that turns out to be Garfield’s remains to be seen, but the interest is there. Sony has acknowledged the calls for The Amazing Spider-Man 3… in a sense, as its social media team offered a winking mention of it while promoting No Way Home. Still, there is no saying what the future holds. Stranger things have happened in Hollywood, so perhaps there is more ahead for Garfield (and Stone) in the Marvel world.
