Merchandise for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness provides a new look at America Chavez’s costume. The Baby-Sitters Club star Xochitl Gomez makes her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the upcoming movie as the superhero also known by her moniker, Miss America. The Doctor Strange sequel is currently in the midst of extensive reshoots, though this isn’t expected to affect its current release date of May 6, 2022. Other than the introduction of America Chavez, the film will feature the return of Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular Sorcerer Supreme, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, and Benedict Wong as Wong.

As indicated by its title, the Doctor Strange sequel will continue to put the multiverse front and center, picking up after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which sees villains from alternate universes arrive in the MCU in the wake of Doctor Strange’s botched spell. Since those villains will likely return to their respective universes or be defeated by the end of that film, Doctor Strange’s second solo outing is expected to present new challenges. While specific plot details are under wraps, it has been known for some time that Wanda Maximoff’s (Elizabeth Olsen) arc from WandaVision will tie directly into the movie. Since she was last seen reading the Darkhold, Scarlett Witch will likely be appearing in an antagonistic role. The first film’s villain, Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), will also return for the sequel.

Now, new tie-in merchandise for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has provided looks at many of the movie’s characters, including another peek at America Chavez’s costume (per Entertainment Earth). The action figure is outfitted in the character’s signature denim jacket adorned with stars and stripes as seen in Marvel’s comics. Check out her look below:

Fans of the comics will be glad to see this action figure remaining faithful to the character’s costume from the comics. But as usual with tie-in merch, it’s unclear if this represents how the character will be presented on screen. The first look at America Chavez came in concept art that was given to the cast and crew as a wrap gift this past summer, which also showed the character’s signature star-shaped portals that she uses to traverse the multiverse.

Due to her powers, Chavez is often pursued by Shuma-Gorath, another villain expected to play a role in Doctor Strange 2. However, her introduction to the MCU is not only anticipated because of her strong ties to the multiverse. The character will continue to diversify the MCU as its first LGBTQ Latinx hero. How America Chavez factors into the plot of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness remains to be seen.
