American Idol: Arthur Mocked for Inviting Sheryl Crow to Play at His Gig

Arthur Gunn, a contestant from American Idol,was mocked for inviting Sheryl Crow to play at his gig. Arthur posted on social media that participating in American Idol was unpleasant.

As a former runner-up, Arthur was expected to perform with Crow during the finale after winning a comeback competition. The competition resulted in Arthur’s advancement to the Top 7. However, contestants and fans were not exactly thrilled about Arthur’s return because many thought it was unfair. Arthur failed to show up to the finale. Instead, Graham DeFranco was called to the stage by the audience to perform with Crow. Arthur’s unannounced absence left the judges and fans baffled. 

Reddit fans mocked Arthur for a last-ditch effort to make amends with Crow. Many accused Arthur of being presumptuous. Arthur’s Facebook post began with, “Well, let’s just say I missed my opportunity to sing with legendary @sherylcrow. what happened is not much to discuss at this point. I would like to make it up and invite @sherylcrow to perform couple of songs on the July 30th at @thecotillion.” Reddit fans commented, “The invite to Sheryl Crow is so cringe lmao. He is acting like he is the star here lol. I’m so happy we are done with him.” While fans speculated that Arthur’s post showed an unnecessary sense of entitlement, Arthur blames an unpleasant environment for the absence. The contestant wrote, “It was a last minute decision but I couldn’t help but say no cause of some personal morals and values due to unpleasant environmental experiences.” 

Arthur hinted at problems with other contestants. Many show watchers thought Arthur’s return to the competition was not fair to this season’s contestants. One fan gives Arthur the benefit of the doubt, “Unpleasant environmental experiences = I sense that he did not get along well with this year’s contestants (which is tbh understandable). Or any possible altercations with the show’s producers?” Arthur’s statements left fans with many unanswered questions. One fan expressed, “I dislike when people purposely put something out there, w/out really explaining it. Say no comment then.” Another responded, “This season has been weird lol. So many things left unexplained.”

Fans are puzzled and want to know what issues may have contributed to the unpleasant environment. This season of American Idol consisted of several unexpected twists and turns. Arthur may have intended to clear the air with Crow, but the social media post caused fans to mock and see the American Idol contestant as entitled.
