Hunter Metts was one of the most talented and memorable singers on American Idol season 19, earning a lot of praise from the judges and the viewers throughout the competition. When the fans met Hunter on his Idol audition, he described himself as a 22-year-old former software engineer from Franklin, Tennessee. The judges were captivated by Hunter’s singing, which was soft but also fierce and piercing. Unsurprisingly, the fans kept voting to keep Hunter in the competition as the weeks went on.

Over the course of his American Idol journey, Hunter Metts showed a lot of range, charisma, and potential. Hunter expertly delivered great performances to songs like Sia’s “Chandelier”, Jewel’s “Who Will Save Your Soul”, Justin Vernon’s “Skinny Love”, Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me”, Phil Collins’ “You’ll Be in My Heart” (Tarzan), and Coldplay’s “Everglow”. In the top seven episode, Hunter also performed an original song called “The River”. Unfortunately, however, Hunter was eliminated during the top seven round.

3. “July” By Noah Cyrus

For the Showstopper Round of American Idol, Hunter gave out an unforgettable performance of “July” by Noah Cyrus. This song had been performed before in season 19, but Hunter’s interpretation still stood out from the pack. Watching Hunter’s performance, judges Katy Perry and Luke Bryan couldn’t stop smiling and bobbing their heads to the melody. Throughout his experience on the show, Hunter consistently sang his heart out on the Idol stage, giving the viewers everything he’s got.

2. “Falling Slowly” By Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová

During the top 12 episode of American Idol, the contestants were tasked to perform tracks that had been nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song. In Hunter Metts’ case, he performed Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová’s “Falling Slowly” from the 2007 film Once. Once again, Hunter was able to dazzle the fans and the judges with talent and charisma. As such, the public voted to save him and make sure that he’d advance to the next round in the competition.

1. “All The Pretty Girls” By KALEO

Despite his various great moments on Idol, it’s pretty hard to beat Hunter Mett’s introductory performance during his audition. Hunter sang KALEO’s “All The Pretty Girls”, and the judges were nothing but smitten with by his wide vocal range and enchanting charisma. Luke Bryan described one particular note that Hunter hit that made him feel the “real deal chills,” and Katy Perry foresaw that he’d surely make it to the top ten. Indeed, this was only the beginning for Hunter on American Idol, but little did he know that he’d make it as far as the top seven on the show.

American Idol season 19 airs Sundays at 8 pm ET/PT on ABC.
