American Ninja Warrior: What To Know About ‘Classy Ninja’ Donovan Metoyer

The “classy ninja” Donavan Metoyer has become a fan-favorite on American Ninja Warrior. Known for wearing formal attire while competing on the show, Metoyer has kept viewers in awe with his amazing ability during the course.

Metoyer, 33, has created a brand for himself through his success on American Ninja Warrior. He is the only competitor who wears a three-piece suit while going through the obstacles in the warrior course. “I am known as the Classy Ninja,” he explained on the show. “I’m into classy shirts, classy suits, gotta have the classy shoes. And my hair? It’s in a class of its own,” he declared. He made it to the finals after a groundbreaking climb up the warped wall during the semi-finals. While climbing up the warped wall, Metoyer landed a 360-degree spin that impressed the judges, crowd, and viewers at home. “On the course, I try to bring a little style, a little elegance and a whole lot of skill,” he added.

Despite not hitting the buzzer at the end of the course, Metoyer finished in eighth place and landed a spot in the finals. When he’s not competing on the show, the Kansas City native works as a store manager. He first competed for a spot on the show in American Ninja Warrior 5 in Denver. However, his chances were cut short after he failed the Rotating Bridge during the qualifying round. He came back to try it out again in ANW 6 in St. Louis. But, unfortunately, he wasn’t able to pass the Rope Swing Into Cargo Net challenge. He returned a year later for ANW 7 in his hometown of Kansas City, but had a misstep on the floating tiles and didn’t advance. After failing again in ANW 8, Metoyer returned for ANW 9, where he finally made it in the top 30 and advanced to the city finals.

Metoyer is very proud of his appearances on ANW. His Instagram page is filled with some of his camera time on the hit competition show. “Finally! A start line picture from this season,” he captioned a photo of himself at the start of the course. “I was talking to myself here about the 1st obstacle. “You did this one before Donovan. Don’t rush it and one swing on the rope this time. You got this,” he shared.

He ended the post’s caption by asking his supporters a question they’ll only be able to answer by watching the show. “How far will I make it,” he asked his followers. Only time will tell.
