A new series of creative crossover images reimagines the Among Us crewmates as combatants in the world of Super Smash Bros. The popularity of the 2020 smash hit social deduction game has stayed high though the end of the year as it continues to remain prominent in pop culture.

When any game gains a fandom as massive as what Among Us has amassed this year, it is inevitable that fans express their love for it in a wide variety of creative outlets. Besides traditional pieces of fan art, Among Us has been turned into a sitcom, a 3D animated horror movie, and even online coloring pages just to name a few. The wealth of creativity this title has spawned in its fans around the world is just as remarkable as the game’s astronomical rise. Now, a new collection of pieces have been added to the Among Us fan art community and this time they cross over with Nintendo’s immensely popular fighting series.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Twitter user charred_lizard not only reimagined the crewmates as Smash Bros. characters, but also included a detailed move set for the colorful character. From simple jabs and tilts to the down smash and everything in between, charred_lizard has gone to great lengths in order to flesh out this concept. These particular images managed to catch the eye of the official Among Us Twitter account, which thanked charred_lizard for sharing the series of tweets and expressed their joy at the imagined dash attack for the crewmate.

Besides receiving praise from the official game account, charred_lizard’s artwork was met with overwhelming positivity and there were even some who suggested that this concept could one day become a reality. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is still adding new characters to its roster two years after release and it appears that trend will continue throughout the entirety of 2021. What’s more is that Nintendo has managed to incorporate characters it does not own into its Smash Bros. games with great results, meaning that these images may not be as farfetched as most other pieces of fan art.

As 2020 winds down, there seems to be no signs that Among Us‘ popularity is diminishing. In November alone, the game had half a billion active players and it is worth noting that the game is older than the last Super Smash Bros. The phenomenon of Among Us is truly unique and it only seems to be getting more popular. It is unclear how long this popularity will last, but for the time being it might be best to just sit back and enjoy all the extra content this game has spawned with its success.
