Over the past few months, Among Us has gotten incredibly popular. The social deduction game is currently available on PC and Android, and it pits Crewmates against one or more Impostors who attempt to kill the Crewmates one by one. It’s a lot of fun, which is why the game has gotten so popular, but there’s currently no way to play Among Us without other people. However, thanks to a new fan-made game, people can now play Among Us as a completely single-player experience.

It may seem antithetical to the overall premise of Among Us to have single player. After all, a social deduction multiplayer game needs other people. One of the reasons Among Us got so popular was due in part to the way it allowed users to play online with other people in a time of social distancing and staying at home. However, some people just prefer playing games alone.

Thanks to a new unofficial version of the game from fan KlopityL, Among Us can be played completely solo. For people who prefer single-player games – or who just want a break from Among Us’ multiplayer – it’s a great option. Although this is a fan-made game that isn’t associated with Among Us developer InnerSloth, it’s still a lot of fun. However, because it’s a single-player game, there are some noticeable changes.

Changes To Single-Player Among Us

Because Among Us single-player wasn’t meant to actually be possible in the game’s systems, this version of Among Us always has the player becoming the Impostor. This is great news for people who prefer playing an Impostor in Among Us every time, but it can also get repetitive. For those people hoping to play as a Crewmate in Among Us’ single-player, this may be disappointing news. A lot of people are asking KlopityL for Crewmate options, so it could possibly happen in a future update.

Created in Construct 3, the single-player Among Us still looks a lot like the actual game from InnerSloth. The usual Impostor moves are still intact, and it’s still important not to let the AI Crewmates catch on to who’s really killing them. It’s unlikely original developer InnerSloth will ever implement a single-player mode into their game, since it changes so much of what made Among Us popular in the first place. So, this fan-made version may be the closest people ever get to experiencing Among Us solo.

So far, the single-player Among Us is still up and running. Sometimes developers ask for these kinds of games to be removed, so it may not be available forever. In the meantime, though, it’s a great way to enjoy Among Us solo, and is available on itch.io.
