And just like that, …And Just Like That has been renewed for a second season. The revival series of Sex and the City continues to be just as controversial among Twitter users as it was when it premiered, firmly dividing fans of the original series between those who are excited about following Miranda, Charlotte, and Carrie as they navigate their 50s and those who consider their antics so last season.

From wanting to fire all the writers and hoping for a better story arc for Miranda Hobbes to just wanting Anthony to become the star of the show, fans have some hilarious reaction tweets to the announcement by HBO Max.

Say It With A Post-It

Sometimes, a relationship means so little to someone that they break up with their partner with a Post-It, the preferred tactic of Burger when he was unable to confront Carrie about ending things on Sex and the City. Now, fans are breaking up with And Just Like That in the same way.

This hilarious tweet uses the very same Post-It that Burger left Carrie, applying the same crass and careless method he did because to some fans, And Just Like That isn’t worth a more dignified response. The show fundamentally altered too much of what made Sex and the City popular and fans don’t want to go through the pain of sitting through Season 2 hoping it will get better.

Not The Same Without Sam

A lot of fans feel that And Just Like That would’ve been better with Samantha, and not the various other characters left trying to fill a role only possible with her brand of candor and charm. The finale did seem to at least point towards the possibility of an on-screen reunion between Sam and Carrie in London, making some fans hold out hope they would see Kim Cattrall listed in the cast of Season 2.

There’s a great deal of bruised egos in the public history shared between Sarah Jessica Parker and Cattrall, so fans eagerly awaiting Sam’s return might never get their wish unless a behind-the-scenes reconciliation can be reached.

Pelotons For Everyone

The relationship Carrie and Mr. Big established in Sex and the City came to an abrupt end in Season 1 all thanks to a Peloton bike, and the incident became a running gag among fans who found it inadvertently funny despite its much more tragic overtones.

As a darkly humorous reference for any lead character suddenly and unexpectedly leaving the show, it’s now being applied to cast members like Che, who some fans have found to be not only abrasive but part of storylines that derail established development in characters like Miranda Hobbes.

The Anthony Show

Criminally underused in Sex and the City, Anthony has truly become one of the Fab Four in And Just Like That. As they continue to hold a revolving place setting for Sam, many characters have played musical chairs with rounding out their table for four, but having Anthony join the girls for lunch or cocktails allows for even more development for his character.

Through his own hilarious bakery business, Stanford’s departure, and other storylines, Anthony’s finally become emphasized as a central figure in the main plots, not just used to buoy other characters’ shenanigans. This tweet hopes that Season 2 will feature even more of everyone’s favorite bun businessman.

Miranda Who?

It was expected that Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda would undergo a lot of changes since Sex and the City ended, but Miranda’s shocked fans the most. No longer cynical, sassy, and strong, And Just Like That turned her into a clumsy, shy, and skittish character who seemed to lack the personal drive that had endeared her to fans in the first place.

So far, Miranda has been included in some of And Just Like That’s most cringeworthy parts, including her affair behind Steve’s back and overcompensating to be more politically correct. This tweet hopes to see a lot more of Miranda’s spunk in Season 2.

Write Out The Writers

A lot of fans took offense with the writers because of how much the main characters changed under their care; Carrie became obsessed with elderly infirmities, Charlotte became clueless about the subject of race, and Miranda seemed to do a complete 180-degree change from being smart, assured, and confident.

This tweet seems to suggest that while fans are happy to see And Just Like That come back for Season 2, they want the writers to change and perhaps give different voices a chance to accurately capture the beloved characters from Sex and the City.

One Door Opens And Another Door Closes

Some fans used to wait with bated breath to see what glorious new outfit Carrie would debut bounding down the steps of her brownstone, off to yet another brunch, art gallery, or latest hot spot in New York City. But now it seems where one door opens, another is closing.

Not even the funky fashion and looks of And Just Like That can keep some fans tuning in to Season 2. This tweet uses the comedic stylings of SNL star Kate McCannon to make its closing argument.

How Hard Is It To Find A Cab?

Even as fans disagree with some of the plot points in And Just Like That, Sex and the City wasn’t always known for its realistic storylines, and often just provided a form of escapism for viewers who imagined what living in New York City would be like for certain women in the early ’00s.

This tweet recreates Carrie’s ubiquitous brownstone exit and combines it with her hailing a cab, even casting a little shade on what happened in Episode 1 of And Just Like That, when Carrie couldn’t find a single cab in New York City and had to walk home, forcing a very tragic outcome for Mr. Big.

Justice For Miranda’s Cheap Wig

Just as in its famous predecessor, much was made about appearance in Season 1 of And Just Like That, and eagle-eyed fans couldn’t help but wonder what was up with Miranda’s hair. For most of the season, she had a wig that looked like, well, a wig, and fans couldn’t stop making fun of it.

One user even went so far as to make a Twitter account for “Miranda Hobbes’ Cheap Wig”, which had its own statement to make about the series coming back for Season 2, complete with a rant about “unsafe working conditions”.

Che Diaz Strikes Back

And Just Like That introduced a lot of new characters, but none as controversial or as polarizing as Che Diaz, whose podcast Carrie frequently contributed to and with whom Miranda Hobbes harbored intense feelings. While Che certainly had a lot of fans, others wished the character would be minimized in Season 2.

Using a caption from Scream Queens, this hilarious tweet pokes fun at the Che haters, who will no doubt find curiosity getting the better of them when Season 2 reveals what happened between Miranda and Che in Los Angeles.
