Andrew Garfield recently reflected on his kiss with Ryan Reynolds during the Golden Globes. Garfield has been in the spotlight quite a bit in recent months. His newest film, Tick, Tick… BOOM!, was released on Netflix last month and Garfield has been busy promoting it. Alongside promoting his newest film, he’s also found himself being asked frequently if he is going to reprise the role of Peter Parker in the upcoming film Spider-Man: No Way Home. Despite heavy rumors, Garfield has consistently denied any involvement in the film which is set to release in theaters later this month.

Garfield was nominated for a Golden Globe, Best Actor in a Drama Motion Picture, for his portrayal of Desmond T. Doss in the 2016 film, Hacksaw Ridge, the same year Reynolds was nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for his work in Deadpool. The acclaimed actors found themselves sitting at the same table during the prestigious awards ceremony, with Reynolds sitting between his wife Blake Lively and Garfield. Much to the surprise of some eagle-eyed fans, when Ryan Gosling won Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, Reynolds and Garfield were spotted kissing as Gosling went up to receive his award.

“It was a really fun moment. I said to him, ‘If you win, kiss me instead of Blake, your wife’ because Blake was on the other side. He was like ‘Amazing. Let’s do it.’ And then he was like, ‘What if, even if I don’t win?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah. Let’s just kiss.’ So yeah, that was fun. It was nice to do it. I liked it. Yes, he did get lost in my eyes. I felt it, and then I realized that what we had done was a mistake because for me, it was just a prank. Like a fun thing. But obviously, you know, this has happened before, where people catch feelings and I don’t.”

This isn’t the first time Garfield has commented on the kiss he shared with Reynolds. Following the video of the smooch going viral, Garfield cleared up any confusion at the time during interviews, when he explained how the prank came to be and confirmed all involved were on board with the joke. Even now, several years later, it appears the actor still finds himself talking about it.

It’s clear that as well as being a great actor, Garfield also knows how to pull off a prank. Both actors were praised by fans following the Golden Globes, not only for their well-timed joke but for also being comfortable enough with themselves to come up with the prank in the first place. With Garfield still cracking jokes about the pair’s pretend budding romance, it appears to still be a fond memory for him and only makes people wonder what other pranks Garfield might have up his sleeve.
