Andy Cohen has gone viral on social media after the Real Housewives producer went on a rant about former New York City mayor Bill de Blasio on his New Year’s Eve show with CNN broadcaster Anderson Cooper. New Year’s Eve Live premiered in 2001 with Anderson and Kathy Griffin; however, the comedian was fired from the CNN show in 2017 after her Donald Trump photo scandal. Andy was hired shortly after and has been hosting the show and entertaining fans since. Anderson explained he chose Andy as Kathy’s replacement because Andy is the life of the party, and the two have been friends for 25 years.

The 2022 celebration was not the first time Andy gave his opinion on Mayor de Blasio. As he and Anderson rang in 2021, he also had some words for the New York City mayor. To celebrate the new year, the hosts did a celebratory shot that was evidently too strong, causing Anderson to near gag on it. Andy’s response was to say he had the same reaction watching Mayor de Blasio dancing in Time’s Square. The Bravo producer then yelled for the mayor to get it together and do something with NYC. Anderson stood aside, seemingly uncomfortable waiting for his cohost to conclude his rant.

Andy still had more to say as he and his cohost rang in 2022, and social media can not get enough of his hilarious ranting. As Mayor Eric Adams was being sworn in, Andy said “sayonara sucker” to Mayor de Blasio, calling his run “four years of the crappiest term as the mayor of New York.” While Anderson failed to get Andy to stop ranting, the cohost added that the only thing Democrats and Republicans can agree on is how horrible of a Mayor de Blasio has been. Viewers could not stop sharing the clips all over social media, finding his rant hilarious while simultaneously agreeing with his message. Clay Travis tweeted the viral video calling Andy’s rant “a fun watch” while Twitter user Lindsay98320900 replied, “Drunk man’s words are a sober man’s thoughts. The truth is said!!

Andy was particularly disturbed by de Blasio’s “victory lap dance” and expressed his joy that at next year’s New Year’s Eve show, he will not have to watch him “dancing as the city comes apart.” The video has been shared all over Twitter and TikTok, along with some other clips from the night in which Andy referred to Ryan Seacrest’s ABC show as “a group of losers” and interviewed Bozo the clown. The host also got fired up as he was covered in confetti from what he calls a “fake Journey” performance explaining the band Journey “doesn’t count” without their original lead singer, Steve Perry.

Andy and Anderson surely know how to keep viewers entertained while ringing in the new year. While Andy may not have been a fan of the former New York City mayor, the Real Housewives producer can relax now that a new mayor has been sworn in. Whether or not the new mayor will gain Andy’s stamp of approval is still up in the air. However, the producer will definitely let the world know what he thinks next new year’s eve during the annual show. Fans are certainly impatiently awaiting another entertaining viral rant from Andy.
