Build-A-Bear Workshop has announced that a brand-new Animal Crossing: New Horizons plush, depicting fuzzy musician K.K. Slider, will go on sale beginning June 10. The life simulation game from Nintendo, released in March 2020, is the latest in a long-running series. K.K. Slider is a black and white Jack Russell terrier, and talented guitarist, who has appeared in all of the series’ installments to date.

Back in April 2021, it was announced that Build-A-Bear Workshop and Nintendo would collaborate in order to bring Animal Crossing: New Horizons characters to the popular stuffed animal retailer. Customers were able to order and stuff two of the game’s most iconic characters: mayoral assistant Isabelle and businessman Tom Nook. Unfortunately, these Animal Crossing characters were sold out almost immediately after being made available, leading to long periods of unavailability in-between restocks. A recent restock in May also introduced winter outfits for both of the characters, allowing buyers to further customize their New Horizons villagers.

The official Build-A-Bear Twitter account has announced that a new Animal Crossing plush will allow fans to take home K.K. Slider starting on June 10. The talented canine comes complete with his signature guitar, and different bundles will come with different songs for him to play. An email sent to Build-A-Bear subscribers goes into more detail, revealing that K.K. Slider will go on sale on June 10, at 10 am Central Standard Time. Customers are recommended to visit the Build-A-Bear website before the sale starts in order to enter a virtual waiting room for the sale.

While this is K.K. Slider’s first appearance as a Build-A-Bear plush, the guitar-playing terrier is set to make another appearance outside of New Horizons. The character will be included in Volume 2 of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Tomodachi Doll box set, which also includes other characters like Timmy and Tommy. The 2.2-inch tall figurines feature a soft and fluffy texture just like the real-life animals that they represent. Preorders for the box set opened on May 26, and it is set to release by December 2021.

The crossover between Build-A-Bear and Animal Crossing has been a huge success, as the plush villagers are consistently sold out soon after they are restocked by the retailer. The addition of a third character to the line-up should therefore be a financial success, while also possibly making it easier for customers to get their hands on at least one of the three characters. K.K. Slider is a staple of the Animal Crossing franchise, and his musical talents are sure to make him a unique plush companion.
