Sanrio-themed furniture, clothing, and villagers are coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons for players who scan the Sanrio Collaboration amiibo cards. These will be available worldwide beginning March 26, 2021. Users can decorate their Animal Crossing islands and homes with adorable new items featuring fan-favorite characters like Hello Kitty.

This is the first time Nintendo is offering the Animal Crossing Sanrio amiibo cards in the United States, although the crossover was originally released in Japan for Animal Crossing: New Leaf on Nintendo 3DS. The 1.9 update releases March 18 and must be downloaded to unlock these new features, which include six new, Sanrio-themed Animal Crossing villagers to live with players on their islands. The six Animal Crossing x Sanrio amiibo card packs will be exclusively available at Target for United States residents and can be purchased for about $6 a pack.

Scanning the amiibo cards also allows players to access Sanrio poster items under the Posters tab in Nook Shopping. Anyone who has the Japanese amiibo cards for New Leaf can already do this by them at Harv’s island in New Horizons, and those who don’t own these packs should still be able to access the Sanrio furniture and clothing items by trading with players who have them. Many of these items have appeared in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and New Leaf and are included in the list below thanks to Animal Crossing World. There are also other items included here, like rugs, not mentioned on the Animal Crossing World website but shown in the official Nintendo New Horizons update trailer.
