Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 has one of the most useful additions to the game since its launch: the permanent ladder. This new item lets players place ladders on their island to easily ascend and descend cliffs while avoiding inconveniences. Previously, players needed to either take out and use their ladder each time, or they would need to set up and pay for inclines to be built.

Traditionally, the ladder recipe can be bought from Nook’s Cranny, then crafted using four of each kind of wood: hardwood, softwood, and wood. Ladders are crafted at an Animal Crossing: New Horizons DIY workbench once all the materials are in the player’s inventory. The ladder set-up kits work similarly in how they are acquired and built. Ladder set-up kits can be crafted after acquiring the DIY recipe from Nook’s Cranny.

In order to start the process of placing permanent ladders, players will need to purchase the Animal Crossing: New Horizons DIY recipe for the ladder set-up kit. This recipe shows that players will need a ladder already made along with an additional five pieces of wood. The total crafting requirements for a ladder set up kit are nine wood, four softwood, and four hardwood. Players can obtain these materials at random from the trees around their island.

How to Get Permanent Ladders in Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0

Ladders are one of the few tools that can’t be purchased from Nook’s Cranny, so players will need to collect a fair amount of wood to set up permanent ladders, especially if they want a large number of them around the island. To collect wood, players need to hit a tree with a flimsy or stone axe to get one of the three types of wood. Each tree can produce three wood pieces per day. Collect enough wood, then craft a ladder, and use both to build a ladder set-up kit.

Arguably the best feature about the ladder ser-up kit is its ability to be relocated easily. Players can approach any ladder that’s already set up and use the interact button to return it to their pockets. The ladder can then be placed in a different location without needing to craft a new one. Players are able to make or move ladders with complete control now in Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0.

There is an abundance of new features for players to explore in Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0. These new updates include the permanent ladders, which essentially replace the much more costly inclines and ramps. Players can move the new ladders around as needed, but otherwise, they stay where they’re placed on the island. The ladder set-up kits are part of the free 2.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 is available now for Nintendo Switch.
