The 2.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons brought several quality-of-life improvements to the game, one of which is the ability to own and place an ABD Personal ATM. Rather than having to go to the Nook Stop in Resident Services each time — or the new ABD near the entrance of Harv’s Island — players can decide the best location to put the machine. However, getting access to the ATM can be a lengthy process, depending on how much a player has upgraded their Animal Crossing island home.

To purchase the ABD Personal ATM, players will need a fully upgraded house with all their loans paid off. This is no easy task, since the grand total for all upgrades is more than 5 million bells. Newer players may want to start maximizing the number of Bells they earn each day if they want the ABD sooner rather than later. Those who want to speed up the process could also consider time traveling by manually adjusting the time and date settings on the Switch.

Once the island home is complete and all Animal Crossing loans have been paid to Tom Nook, a letter from Nook Inc. will come in the mail. The letter explains that customers who have fully paid off their loans are eligible to redeem Nook Miles for an ABD, which will allow players to access their Bank of Nook accounts at any time. Since Resident Services is always open, players can access their bank accounts on the Nook Stop at all hours. However, purchasing an ABD with Nook Miles means the machine can be placed in whatever spot the player finds most convenient.

How to Get the ABD Personal ATM in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Make sure the letter from Nook Inc. has come through the mail to ensure eligibility for buying the ABD in Animal Crossing. If players aren’t yet sure if their home has been completely updated, speaking with Tom Nook at the Construction Consultation Counter should clear things up. Once that letter is received players can purchase the ABD at the Nook Stop in Resident Services. Select “Redeem Nook Miles,” then scroll to the very bottom to find the machine. The ABD costs 9,900 Nook Miles and will be delivered via mail the following day.

It is possible to own multiple ABD Personal ATMs and place them across the island. Additionally, players who particularly enjoy decorating their island may be interested in changing the ATM’s color scheme. Once Reese and Cyrus set up shop on Harv’s Island in Animal Crossing, they can customize the color of the ABD for 8,000 Bells. With unlimited access to their Bank of Nook accounts, players are now free to deposit or withdraw Bells wherever and whenever they please.
