New Halloween Items were introduced this Summer in Animal Crossing: New HorizonsAnimal Crossing: New Horizons was a massive hit when it was first released back in March 2020. However, as time has progressed, new content updates have been less substantial and less frequent. Players are eager for a massive update to provide a reason to return to their island. While this isn’t quite the update players are looking for, Nintendo recently introduced a handful of new Halloween items in the middle of the Summer. It’s a bit unusual since Animal Crossing is a game that releases new content related to the current season.

Nintendo released these Halloween items as part of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons version 1.11 update. This update mainly provides small bug fixes. The Halloween items almost seem like a technical mistake, as though Nintendo released this content by accident. Unless this happens again in the future, it is likely to remain a mystery. Regardless, here is how players can get the new Halloween Items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Time Travel To Access New Halloween Items in Animal Crossing

There are three new Halloween items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for players to collect. These are:

  • Spooky Treats Basket
  • Spooky Trick Lamp
  • Spooky Tree

In order to collect them, players will need to time travel to October 2021 and find them for sale in Nook’s Cranny under the Seasonal Items section. Alternatively, players can speak with their villagers to learn DIY recipes for these items and craft them themselves. Because these items are available without a time lock, players can time travel as they please and already collect all three. To time travel, players should enter their Nintendo Switch Settings, head to the System section, and select Date and Time. To return to real time, players can reset the date and time after they have collected their seasonal items.

When the game was first released, the conversation around the ethical use of time travel in Animal Crossing: New Horizons was a massive talking point. Players were debating if it was alright to skip ahead in the future to avoid waiting on the time-sensitive content like trees growing or buildings being established. Overall, it’s a single-player game, so players can ultimately do whatever they want. Those who choose to maintain their present timeline will have to wait until October 2021 officially arrives to grab these new items.

Animal Crossing New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch.
