Animal Cross: New Horizons players can expand their custom design slots, a new addition in the 2.0 version update. ACNH is the kind of video game that can be played for a lifetime—or at least until the next title in the series comes out. It is sort of a life simulator, and has been keeping villagers busy for over a year now. Ever since its beginnings, Animal Crossing: New Horizon has been a constantly evolving world, with new seasonal events to attend and unique items to craft. It’s even got Mario! Now that the game is heading into its second year, some events are cropping up again (beware the arrival of Zipper T. Bunny), but that doesn’t mean everything is the same. The game has gotten a number of quality of life improvements, too.

Since the 2.0 version update in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players can acquire new custom design slots, giving them access to 200 new designs. To get more custom design slots in ACNH, players will need no purchase an in-game item from the Nook Stop Terminal in Resident Services. Once purchased, players will be able to use 50 additional spots, bringing the total to 100.

First and foremost of those improvements, ACNH‘s Bunny Day will be mercifully shorter this time around…but there are also some more practical additions that have just been added to the game. One of the best is the expanded number of custom design slots available in the Custom Design app on the NookPhone. With the March update, players will now be able to get 50 additional slots for both the normal app and the pro version of the app. That totals 100 extra design slots—that’s a lot! Here is how to get access to this new and improved functionality.

How to get the Custom Designer Pro Editor+ app in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

To unlock the expanded custom design slots, all one needs to do is purchase the Custom Designer Pro Editor+ in ACNH. To purchase this, simply head on over to Resident Services and access the Nook Stop Terminal. Once at this singularly jovial ATM, select “Redeem Nook Miles.” From here, all that’s left is to navigate down the list of what can be redeemed with Nook Miles and select the Custom Designer Pro Editor+!

This app costs 2,000 Nook Miles, which isn’t too bad at all when considering how many more patterns players will be able to store. This app will also allow players to put designs on items that previously couldn’t be customized, such as umbrellas, small flags, uchiwa fans, and photo standees. After purchasing the app, it will be automatically added to the player’s NookPhone, and the expanded slots can be accessed simply by opening up the custom design app in ACNH.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons lovers have been wanting this upgrade for some time and now that the game is a year old, they can finally expand their repertoire of delightful custom designs!
