Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 Datamine Reveals Over 9k New Items

The new November 2.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizonshas brought with it a host of exciting features and content, and dataminers have confirmed over 9,000 new items have also been introduced. Animal Crossing fans have been asking for new gameplay and items for a long time now, and it seems the 2.0 update is living up to players’ expectations.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons was one of the most popular games of 2020, but a lack of core gameplay made many turn away from the game. Players criticized the release for lacking features, characters, and events seen in other AC games, and while New Horizons offers deeper customization than any previous entry in the series, there was little for players to do once their islands were fully decorated using the in-game tools and items. The new Animal Crossing update has solved many of these fan concerns, reintroducing previously-missing Animal Crossing NPCs, adding new features such as cooking, and introducing the shopping Plaza.

While Nintendo had previously announced many of the new Animal Crossing features in the October Nintendo Direct, it seems the showcase barely scratched the surface of what’s contained in the update when it comes to items. The Animal Crossing: New Horizons item catalog was a fairly extensive one already, but dataminers NWPlayer123 and Trundler from VillagerDB have confirmed over 9,000 new items have been added. These aren’t just confined to new furniture item sets, but also include new outfits, photos, Nook Miles items, accessories, foods, and even decorative luxury cars. The Animal Crossing 2.0 update is nothing short of a gamechanger, not only serving as the title’s biggest update since launch, but also adding many highly-requested fan features. With over 9,000 new additions to items alone, players should find more customizability for both the appearance and style of their character, as well as their island decor. A number of the game’s new items, including a range of baby furniture and carnival items, seems to suggest Nintendo has been keeping an eye on players’ most-popular island themes, with “kidcore,” “farmcore,” “spookycore,” and more all seemingly catered to with the new decorative items.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons players may have a lot to explore for now, but Nintendo has confirmed the 2.0 update will be the game’s last substantial free update. Players still have the Animal Crossing Happy Home Paradise DLC to look forward to, which will give fans the chance to design a dream getaway for their favorite villagers. The paid Animal Crossing DLC will launch on November 5.
