When Animal Crossing: New Horizons players want to travel to faraway islands, they usually need to enlist the help of Dodo Airlines. One Animal Crossing player, apparently unsatisfied with their service, chose to recreate an airplane in the comfort of their own basement. Though the creation doesn’t actually allow the player to fly in the sky and journey the world, it does give them a taste of air travel should they desire it.

The means of transportation available to Animal Crossing players increased with the recent 2.0 update. This update added Kapp’n, a friendly turtle who can transport players to new, exotic islands while singing friendly sea shanties as he sails. This new travel option allows players to visit brand new islands, previously inaccessible. In the past, if players wanted to venture off their island, they would have to enlist the help of Dodo Airlines to travel. Orville and Wilbur can help players visit their friends or isolated islands thanks to their little puddle-jumper plane. Now, one player has made their own.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

As shown on Reddit, Animal Crossing player Airkoryo_ showed off how they can take to the skies right from the comfort of their own home. Airkoryo_ remodeled their basement to look like the inside of a cabin of an airplane, which they described as “premium economy” thanks to the luxurious amount of legroom. Thanks to a number of airplane chairs and what appears to be custom wallpaper to recreate the airplane windows and skies beyond, Airkoryo_ manages to make air travel feel a bit easier for Animal Crossings players.

Although Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ 2.0 update was teased as the last major update for the game, Nintendo has continued to improve the game with new items and textures for players to enjoy. The bevy of new items and interactions brought on after the 2.0 update has kept the game fresh for Animal Crossing players who have already tricked out their island. But it seems players like Airkoryo_ have no trouble keeping themselves entertained.

As Animal Crossing: New Horizons enters its third year, and with no significant updates in sight, players are already wondering whether a sequel is in the works and how to entertain themselves in the meantime. For many, that means exploring the new islands, building homes for villagers thanks to Animal Crossing‘s Happy Home DLC. For others like Airkoryo_ they’re content to just keep creating new and inventive designs for their islands and homes.
