A talented Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has created a spooky potion room on their island, using the game’s items and design tools to build the perfect room just in time for fall. The inspiring Animal Crossing build can be recreated inside players’ homes, or adapted to suit an outside environment.

As a real-time life simulation game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ seasons change to match those happening in the real world. Players will see their trees take on autumnal red and gold colors from today, September 1, with the island lighting also changes to reflect the approach of winter. Many players are busy redecorating and redesigning their islands in time for the seasonal change, swapping colorful summer builds for cozier constructions. The change in weather also inspires scarier Animal Crossing creations. Spooky builds have been a firm favorite for AC designers since the game’s launch, and Halloween-inspired Animal Crossing events give players an excuse to create scary, fun, and seasonal builds for the occasion.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Redditor and Animal Crossing player arebaderci has impressed and inspired the AC subreddit with two snapshots of their island potion room. The build uses items and flooring make of darker wood, with many plant items, and even candles used to complete the look. The spooky potion room features its own cauldron for potion-brewing, as well as a host of different bottled ingredients for enchantments, and countless books to make sure the witch or wizard is getting their concoction just right. The post has seen over 4,000 upvotes at the time of writing, with many players looking to emulate the build on their own islands.

Those looking to make their own spooky Animal Crossing potion shop will need a few bookcases, as well as different plants and flowers to be used as potion ingredients. The build’s main item is the Kettle Bathtub “cauldron”, the recipe for which can be obtained from villagers with the cranky personality. On Reddit, arebaderci has kindly provided the design code for the potion panels, which can be plugged into the in-game design app for download. Players can find the design at MA-5947-2552-5111, and can customize the Simple Panel to give the illusion of potion shelves.

With the spooky season fast approaching, Animal Crossing players are hoping for more Halloween content to soon be announced for the game. Last year’s in-game Halloween event introduced the NPC Jack, as well as candies, pumpkins, and new seasonal items. A recent Animal Crossing datamine has already uncovered a few new Halloween items for 2021: the Spooky Treats Basket, Spooky Tree, and Spooky Trick Lamp. While the items haven’t officially been released, players can get their hands on them early by time-traveling to the month of October, as the items aren’t time-locked. It’s hoped the official Animal Crossing Halloween update announcement is coming soon.
