Animal Crossing Teases Collaboration With Puma Sneakers

Popular social simulating game Animal Crossing: New Horizons has teased an upcoming collaboration with athletic apparel company PUMA on Twitter. This is unsurprising given Nintendo’s proclivity to expand Animal Crossing beyond the screens of Nintendo Switches. The top-selling game has been incredibly successful when collaborating with clothing and other retailers in the past.

Perhaps the best-known collaboration for Animal Crossing was their Build-A-Bear deal that allowed fans of the series to build their very own plush of characters like Tom Nook, Isabelle, and KK Slider. The collaboration was such a success that Build-A-Bear had several restocks that required waitlists so that eager customers would not crash their site. While it’s unclear if any more villagers will be added to the collection, the partnership has already surpassed expectations. And, not to be outdone, but Animal Crossing also partnered with ColourPop to create an exclusive Animal Crossing makeup line, which also sold out almost immediately. Nintendo is certainly hoping that this latest partnership will prove to be as successful as those.

On Twitter, Nintendo teased an upcoming collaboration with PUMA that prominently featured both the leaping puma and the Animal Crossing logo. With no information other than the cryptic statement, “something new is on the horizon” players and fans of the series are left to wonder if this means there will be official Animal Crossing footwear or if perhaps there might be PUMA-branded apparel in the game itself. Since the tweet, however, Sneaker Freaker managed to confirm that, in fact, Nintendo and PUMA are creating their own Wild Rider shoe line that features design inspiration from Animal Crossing. The shoe includes silhouettes of various villagers on the white backdrop, green laces and accents to go with the leafy foliage of the game, and even the iconic Animal Crossing leaf logo.

Players and fans of the game are sure to be excited to rock their fandom now from head to toe. Animal Crossing shirts are already wildly popular, so adding some of these PUMA shoes will certainly complete the ensemble for any fan. The shoes will come in both a suede and Future Rider (for kids) style, so fans of all ages will be able to rock a sweet pair of Wild Riders. No release date for these shoes has yet been confirmed.

It certainly seems like this will be another home run for Animal Crossing as fans are always looking for the next way to express their fandom. Given how fast other Animal Crossing-branded merchandise is, interested buyers should keep an eye out for these shoes to go on sale. They might get sold out quicker than 40 bell turnips from Daisy Mae.
