Players of Animal Crossing: New Horizons are unpacking the new features and additions introduced in the recent Animal Crossing 2.0 update, and have discovered a haunted wallpaper that comes complete with a spooky secret ghost that moves around the room. The game’s latest free update released earlier this week, and has already been impressing players due to the large amount of content included.

Animal Crossing players have been patiently waiting for a substantial game update for some time, and early impressions of the new 2.0 content are looking positive among fans. Alongside new core features such as mystery island boat trips, the Roost cafe, Gyroids, and cooking, the game update has also introduced a host of quality-of-life improvements, such as the ability to store DIY recipes, and thousands of items including new furniture sets and outfits. A recent datamine has revealed that more than 9,000 items have been added to Animal Crossing, making the update the most expansive the game has ever seen.

One of the new items gathering attention from the Animal Crossing fanbase is the Graveyard Wall, a spooky wallpaper that transforms rooms into graveyards complete with countless gravestones and lots of trees. In a post on Reddit, AC fan iam_pinecone shared a close-up look at the new item revealing that should players turn their interior lights off, a ghost will appear within the wallpaper. In a follow-up post, the OP noted that the ghost “swaps places” and moves around the room every time the light is turned off, revealing the phenomenon in a video.

The Graveyard Wall is yet another item that should appeal to Animal Crossing designers who favor a “spookycore” look for their island. While creative players have been using non-spooky items as creative workarounds for things like graveyards, spell rooms, and potions shops, the new Nintendo update adds lots of creepy-cute additions. Along with the Graveyard Wall, players will be able to make use of a new pile of bones named Creepy Skeleton, many of the more sinister-looking Gyroids, and the Dead Trees, to name just a few. Those looking to acquire the Graveyard Wall can find it from Sahara at Harv’s Island’s new Plaza.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons players have been using the game’s items and tools to create unique and exciting builds for their themed islands since the game released in 2020. With a brand-new slew of items and tools now available, fans can likely expect to see even more dynamic and realistic builds. The AC update has added everything from carnival items to luxury cars, breathing new life into the game and ensuring players have everything they need to make their Animal Crossing designs come to life. The paid DLC, Happy Home Paradise, is now also available, and gives users the chance to decorate themed island getaways for different villagers.
