Summer has finally arrived in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and with it wedding season – and some players are drawing inspiration from the event for some truly disturbing player creations. Releasing back in March, Animal Crossing: New Horizons took the gaming world by storm, providing quarantined gamers a calming escape from the real world.

While previous games in the franchise took place in a small town, Animal Crossing: New Horizons places its players on an island of their very own, inhabited by new and familiar villagers to interact with. Since its release, Nintendo has constantly been updating the game, providing players with new and entertaining ways to enjoy their islands. Some examples of this include, having special guests come and visit, adding new bugs and fish to collect, and removing exploits and glitches from the game. Animal Crossing: New Horizons kicked off the season with a special event, where players are tasked with being the wedding photographer for two lovesick llamas.

How the Animal Crossing: New Horizons event works is simple: players are given a single room, which they can customize however they please, as long as they have the proper resources in their catalog. With those being the only guidelines, players were quick to flood Reddit and Twitter, as showcased by Polygon, with their different takes on the wedding ceremony. Some highlights of this include Reddit user nocussinginmydiscord locking the two llamas in separate cages, while their character stands next to a couple of gravestones and a witches brew. Another example, by HoneyILostTheKids, has the two love-birds ready to recite their vows on the alter, but with a crowd of scorpions in attendance to the ceremony.

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons community is getting a reputation for its elaborate constructions and even cheekier memes surrounding some of the game’s updates. The inclusion of the Easter event led to many angry posts about Zipper, the mascot whose omnipresence on players’ islands was more creepy than celebratory.

No matter how players choose to celebrate the sacred tradition of holy matrimony, it’s clear that they’re having fun. Now is perfect time to revisit Animal Crossing: New Horizons and wreak havoc on the islands newlyweds to have a quick laugh. Although these llamas may not appreciate these creative, albeit disturbing, twists on their wedding, the internet sure will – and that’s well worth the trouble of rounding up enough scorpions to fill a wedding hall.
