There are many ways to make money in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. One of the best methods is to collect items to sell on the online community marketplace, Nookazon. There, Animal Crossing Players can sell everything from furniture to fossils, and prices are based on the supply and demand of players themselves, instead of what Tommy and Timmy will pay things for. One of the more interesting things players can sell on Nookazon are New Horizons‘ villager characters. Making Bells by pawning off these fictional friends and may sound cruel, but if fans in a pinch have the right villager, they can make a tidy profit.

Selling villagers isn’t as simple as hording a collection of expensive items. Villagers are encountered at random when visiting Mystery Islands, and players can only have 10 Animal Crossing villagers at a time. There are 397 villagers available for players to locate in New Horizons, so the chances of a player encountering any of the top 10 most valuable is fairly low. Because of this, players who want to make money from villager sales will likely want to aim for a sought-after animal species, rather than a specific villager.

To sell a villager on Nookazon, players must first wait until the villager is ready to leave their island. This can be done by waiting real-world days or by changing the Nintendo Switch’s calendar to “time travel” until the villager wants to leave. Once the villager has expressed the desire to move, the player can list them on Nookazon, where another Animal Crossing player can purchase the right to fly to the island and invite the villager back to their home. These villagers can range in price, according to Nookazon, from thousands of Bells to millions.

Most Valuable Animal Crossing Villagers – Cats

Cats are Animal Crossing’s most common species, with 23 cat villagers available in New Horizons. Because there are so many, there is a good chance players will come across them while visiting Mystery Islands. All cat villagers sell for a decent price on Nookazon, ranging in value being between 8.13 million Bells for Animal Crossing’s most popular villager, Raymond, to 650,000 Bells for Kitty.

Most Valuable Animal Crossing Villagers – Cubs

Much like Animal Crossing‘s cat population, cub villagers are another profitable species. There are 16 cubs available in New Horizons, and they can all net a good amount of Bells. Judy the cub is currently worth 6.25 million Bells on Nookazon, while the lowest-value cub is Poncho, at 650,000 Bells. Many cubs sell for at least 1 million Bells, so inviting them home while exploring Mystery Islands may be worth it.

Most Valuable Animal Crossing Villagers – Deer

Animal Crossing’s deer species was introduced in New Leaf and has appeared in each game since. There are 10 different deer villagers in New Horizons, and all but two can net a player more than 900,000 Bells. The current highest value, according to Nookazon, is Diana, at 1.33 million Bells, and the lowest is Lopez, at 711,111 Bells. While none of the deer villagers come close to the worth of a cat like Raymond, their high value across all 10 individuals makes them worth keeping an eye out for.

Most Valuable Animal Crossing Villagers – Frogs

Another species of villagers players should consider using to make a profit is frogs. There are 18 frog villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and they are all very different in design. Because of this, there is usually a style of frog for every player’s personal preference. Frogs can be a bit more of a gamble, though, with the low-end value dipping below 500,000 Bells. But more than half of New Horizon‘s frogs can net more than 900,000 Bells on the Nookazon market. The most-valued frog villager, currently, is Lily, at 1,040,000 Bells, and the lowest is Tad, at 433,333 Bells.

Most Valuable Animal Crossing Villagers – Rabbits

Another one of the more plentiful species in New Horizons is rabbits. There are 20 rabbit villagers players can find and invite home. Much like frogs, the value of each villager is a bit of a gamble, but the increased number of rabbits makes running into one more likely. Currently, Coco the creepy rabbit is the highest-valued, at 1.61 million Bells, while Doc is the lowest, at 450,000 Bells. However, only two rabbit villagers dip below the 600,000 Bell mark.

Most Valuable Animal Crossing Villagers – Squirrels

It may be surprising to find out that Animal Crossing’s squirrel species can be quite profitable. There are 18 squirrel villagers in New Horizons, and all but two can earn players more than 700,000 Bells when sold on Nookazon. Squirrels also have a wide range of styles, much like frogs, with many different personalities, making them appealing to players looking to buy. Currently, Animal Crossing’s Marshall is worth the most for squirrels on Nookazon, at 2.17 million Bells, while the lowest is Nibbles, at 499,999 Bells.

Most Valuable Animal Crossing Villagers – Wolves

While there aren’t very many wolf villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, much like deer, their worth per villager makes them very profitable. There are 11 wolves in New Horizons, and every wolf villager is worth at least 1 million Bells. The wolf with the highest value is Dobie, at 1.8 million Bells, and the lowest-valued wolf is Freya, at 1 million Bells. There isn’t a single wolf that is worth a staggering amount, but the fact that they can all bring in such a profit makes getting a few wolves for Nookazon worth the effort.

There are many other ways for players to make quick money on the Nookazon marketplace. Players can look at Animal Crossing’s most profitable items and spend time crafting and collecting, if trying to find and resell villagers feels like too big a gamble (or is simply too heartbreaking). However, many villagers are worth a good amount, if players are willing to put in the time and effort to bring them home and kick them out. If Animal Crossing players don’t focus on finding the most popular Animal Crossing: New Horizons villagers, instead looking to bring home popular species, they may be able to turn a decent profit from their islands’ inhabitants.
