Pranksters are in luck, as Animal Crossing: New Horizons has confirmed the return of the Whoopee Cushion item, which arrives just in time for April Fools’ Day. Animal Crossing‘s seasonal items include celebratory pieces for a range of events, from Halloween to Lunar New Year, and are typically only available for a limited time.

Animal Crossing players have the opportunity to collect various seasonal items throughout the calendar year, including food, accessories, decorative items, and clothing, but it’s possible to time travel in order to collect missed items. By changing the date and time on their Nintendo Switch console, users can skip to various days in order to purchase any pieces they might have missed at the time. While events like Toy Day remain locked even after time traveling, it’s possible to still complete to complete Animal Crossing‘s extensive item catalog by skipping through time.

Confirmed by Animal Crossing on Twitter, players of New Horizons can now buy the Whoopee Cushion item ahead of April Fools’ Day. Available in three color variations (red, yellow, and green), the cushion will be available in-game via Nook’s Shopping, and retails for a reasonable 400 Bells. Users can customize their Whoopee Cushion at Harv’s Island by enlisting the help of Cyrus, meaning they can unlock any of the three color variations for a fee. Fans have until April 1 – April Fools’ Day – to get the prankster item and add it to their collection.

The April Fools’ Day Whoopee Cushion item enables Animal Crossing players to create hilarious content, whether videos or screenshots, by using the piece to joke with friends in multiplayer, or with their island villagers. The item was originally introduced in March 2021, in time for last year’s April Fools’ Day, which means fans may already have grabbed the piece for their collection. For those who haven’t yet – and for those who didn’t know such an item existed – the return of the seasonal item offers another chance to purchase the amusing piece.

While lots of players will likely be happy to see the Whoopee Cushion return to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, its comeback highlights one of users’ biggest issues with the game. Nintendo has revealed ACNH received its last substantial content update in November 2021, which means players might only have revolving seasonal items to look forward to in the future. Lots of fans are still hoping smaller content updates will come, but for now, it’s ACNH‘s seasonal items, bugs, and fish that are keeping players returning to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
