Another Life Season 2 New Cast & Character Guide

Another Life season 2 sees many cast members reprising their roles, along with several new characters joining the fray. Netflix’s Another Life is a modern sci-fi space opera that follows the crew of the space vessel Salvare, whose mission is to investigate the potential presence of intelligent aliens in deep space. Another Life’s depictions of space travel, other advanced technologies, the horrors of deep space, and alien races have drawn comparisons to prominent sci-fi series like The Expanse, Battlestar Galactica, and Star Trek.

Another Life season 1 ends with the deaths of engineers August Catawnee (Blu Hunt) and Oliver Sokolov (Alex Ozerov), while season 2 opens with the death of pilot Beauchamp McCarry (Greg Hovanessian). For better or worse, the Salvare’s crew interacts with the Achaians in season 2. And surprisingly, much of the Salvare’s crew from season 1 survives.

Katee Sackhoff as Niko Breckinridge: As the commander of the Salvare, Niko Breckinridge is responsible for everyone’s lives as well as leading the crew to pursue their mission. The actor Katee Sackhoff is most famous for her role as Lieutenant Kara “Starbuck” Thrace of the sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica. She’s also in the series The Division: Hearts on Fire, The Mandalorian, The Flash, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Elizabeth Faith Ludlow as Cas Isakovic: Niko’s second-in-command is pilot Cas Isakovic. While Cas and Niko had a strained relationship in season 1, they get closer in Another Life season 2. The actor Elizabeth Faith Ludlow is famous for playing Arat in AMC’s The Walking Dead. She also appears in both NCIS: New Orleans and NCIS: Los Angeles, and had a small role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Samuel Anderson as William: The Salvare’s FTL (faster-than-light) capabilities and other advanced technologies are controlled by the AI known as William. Similar to Data from Star Trek, William is a highly intelligent non-human character who helps run the ship, except that he is a hologram with no physical body. JayR Tenaco as Zayn Petrossian: The Salvare’s resident doctor is Zayn Petrossian, whose expertise and compassion has helped save the lives of multiple crew members. Actor JayR Tenaco appears in series such as Rake, Space Force, One Of Us Is Lying, and Home and Away. JayR also has a role as Alex in the film Swan Song.

A.J. Rivera as Bernie Martinez: The laidback microbiologist Bernie Martinez is also the Salvare’s part-time chef, as well as Zayn’s love interest. Bernie’s the guy who checks whether or not the plants and water in alien planets are safe to eat. The Actor A.J. Rivera is also in the show Lethal Weapon, Goliath, Runaways, Jane the Virgin, and Living Biblically.

Alexander Eling as Javier Almanzar: Software engineer Javier Almanzar’s brain is being kept alive by an Achain spider, which William reprogrammed for the safety of Javier and the Salvare. Justin Chatwin as Erik Wallace: On Earth, Niko’s husband Erik Wallace, who first got the Achaian artifact on Earth to respond, juggles the responsibilities of being a good father to their daughter Jana and understanding why the Achaians are here. Parveen Dosanjh as Nani Singh: As Erik’s most trusted colleague, Nani Singh shares the responsibilities of interacting with the Achaians, whom she approaches with cautious distrust. Actor Parveen Dosanjh is most famous for being Amrita Kapoor in The Crossword Mysteries. She’s also in Matchmaker Mysteries, 2020’s Nancy Drew, and Supergirl.

Lina Renna as Jana Breckinridge-Wallace: Niko and Erik’s daughter Jana is the main reason why the two risk their lives to face the Achaians. Child actor Lina Renna also appears in several movies, such as A Mother On The Edge, Sweet Mountain Christmas, Lonestar Christmas, and The Edge of Seventeen.

Another Life Season 2 New Characters

Shannon Chan-Kent as Iara: Iara is a combination of Achaian code and William’s own programming, a hybrid AI that could give the Salvare an edge over the aliens. The actor Shannon Chan-Kent is also known as Kiki from the Netflix psychological thriller series You, and has also appeared series such as Good Trouble, Corner Gas Limited, Gigantosaurus, and Superbook.

Tongayi Chirisa as Richard Ncube: Once Niko realizes that the Achaians could be extremely hostile, she wakes up Richard Ncube, a military veteran and strategist. Richard is a powerful new presence on the Salvare. Tongayi Chirisa is also in the series Consequences as Jabari and in Women of the Movement as Medgar Evers.

Kurt Yaeger as Dillon Conner: After telling Niko that she was saddled with an inferior crew, Richard wakes up software engineer Dillon Conner, who is also a war veteran who has lost his left leg. Kurt Yaeger is well-known for his role as SEAL Team’s Theo Papadakis and The Good Doctor’s Cort Graham. He’s also in L.A.’s Finest, Paradise Lost, and The Village.

Catherine Lough Haggquist as Annette Mackenzie: Annette Mackenzie is the government’s new liaison for USIC, an organization similar to the Federation in Star Trek. Catherine Lough Haggquist is most famous for her role as Petra Bellweather in the series Motherland: Fort Salem. She also appears in Chesapeake Shores, Riverdale, and Supernatural.

Dillon Casey as Seth Gage: Government agent Seth Gage becomes an Achaian ambassador when he enters the artifact and allows the aliens to take over his brain. Actor Dillon Casey is known for being Detective Blakey in Designated Survivor. He also appears in Frankie Drake Mysteries and Agents of SHIELD.

Kate Vernon as Ava Breckenridge: As Niko’s mother, Ava steps up to protect her granddaughter Jana as the girl’s parents face hostile aliens. Apart from being Jana’s grandmother, the visage of Kate Vernon’s Ava is often used by the Achaians when interacting with Niko. Kate Vernon is well-known for her role as The Morning Show’s Geneva Micklen and Condor’s Lily Partridge.

Rekha Sharma as Ursula Monroe: Software engineer Ursula Monroe is the creator of the code behind William’s advanced AI programming. The actor Rekha Sharma is known for her role as Commander Landry in Star Trek: Discovery, and Sadia Latifi in Limetown. She also appears in Hot Spot, Mystery 101, Bravest Warriors, and The Fosters.

Carlena Britch as Paula Carbone: Niko pulls colonist leader Paula Carbone out of soma when the Salvare discovers a potentially habitable planet. Actor Carlena Britch is also known for her roles in Supernatural, The X-Files, and Charmed. Britch also has a small role in the 2019 remake of the classic horror series The Twilight Zone.

Allan Hawco as Gabriel: Gabriel is an AI that was stored in the Salvare until he was activated by Dillon. Gabriel has bad news for William and the crew of the Salvare. Allan Hawco is known for his roles as Captain Donovan in Departure, Coyote in Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, and Douglas Brown in Frontier.
