Ant-Man 3 Gets a Strange New Logo as Filming Continues on Sequel

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania gets a brand new weird logo. Director Peyton Reed reunites with Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly for the third installment of the MCU sub-franchise. Principal photography is ongoing in London, and plot details for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania are still scant at the moment.

Between its title and the events of the Infinity Saga, it’s safe to assume that it will continue its exploration of the Quantum Realm. As described by Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) in the first Ant-Man film in 2015, the Quantum Realm is “a reality where all concepts of time and space become irrelevant as you shrink for all eternity.” By 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), who had been stranded there for decades, was successfully rescued. Five years later in Avengers: Endgame, the time heist was made possible by Pym’s Quantum Tunnel that allowed the surviving heroes to access the Quantum Realm with the help of several vials of Pym Particles.

With still so much to learn about the Quantum Realm, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will expectedly make a deep dive into it. Aside from what’s been revealed so far, the threequel’s new logo on the back of a movie set chair suggests its ties to the multiverse. Check out the image below shared on Twitter by Ant-Man News:

Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) will be the primary bad guy for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Marvel Studios debuted a variant of the villain first in Loki named He Who Remains; the character created the Time Variance Authority/TVA to stop another multiversal war. But blinded by her rage, Sylvie (Sophia di Martino) decided to kill him, resulting in the multiverse descending into chaos. Looking closer at this logo, the colors of the text are the same as that of the branching multiverse in the Disney+ series. It’s worth noting that the original logo for the project had the word “Quantumania” in the same colors as the Quantum Realm as featured before in the MCU. This hints that the fallout from He Who Remains’ death will have a direct impact on the threequel, which could explain why Kang the Conqueror battles Scott Lang (Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Lilly).

As for the actual font of the logo, admittedly, it might be a little too stylized. It could be difficult to decipher for casual fans who aren’t aware of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s full title. But, the loops may have something to do with the idea of time loops. As Mobius (Owen Wilson) explained in Loki, certain events repeatedly happen because it’s supposed to be the proper flow of time. Meanwhile, He Who Remains also claimed that even if he died, he would ultimately end up in his Citadel at the end of time, meaning that what happened before would just happen again.
