Apple TV+’s original series Servant has M. Night Shyamalan written all over it in its style, story, and pacing. It’s also beautifully acted thanks to the talented cast that includes some big names in television and movies as well as some relative newcomers.

Many of the cast, however, are actors fans know that they have seen in other big movies or TV shows but can’t quite place. From Black Mirror to Prodigal Son, here is where they have been seen before.

Lauren Ambrose (Dorothy) – Six Feet Under

For four years, Lauren Ambrose played the role of Claire Fisher on the HBO drama Six Feet Under, for which she earned two Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Those of an older generation, however, might also recognize her as one of the best main characters from the 1998 coming-of-age movie Can’t Hardly Wait. She played the antisocial outcast high schooler Denise Fleming who attends a party to support her friend Kenny, played by Seth Green.

In addition to appearing in movies and TV shows, Ambrose has also appeared on Broadway, including playing Eliza Doolittle in the revival of My Fair Lady, which earned her a 2018 Tony nomination.

Toby Kebbell (Sean) – Black Mirror

Arguably one of the best episodes of the British anthology series Black Mirror is one called “The Entire History of You.” It starred Toby Kebbell as a young man struggling with the jealousy and obsession caused by a technology that allows people to re-watch every memory from their lives and see the memories of others.

Kebbell, who is English and uses an American accent on the show, also has an impressive list of movie credits, including Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Wrath of the Titans, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,Fantastic Four, Warcraft, and Kong: Skull Island.

Nell Tiger Free (Leanne) – Game Of Thrones

One of the lesser-known actors from the show, British actor Nell Tiger Free mesmerizes as the mysterious, troubled, but dedicated nanny Leanne. Only acting since 2012, the 22-year-old has already snagged some impressive gigs in addition to this leading role.

Where fans likely most recognize her from is Game of Thrones. Free took over the role of Myrcella Baratheon for seasons 5 and 6; before that, the character was played by Aimee Richardson. She also had a main role in the 2019 crime drama miniseries Too Old to Die Young.

Rupert Grint (Julian) – Harry Potter

While he might be the most recognizable actor from the show, Rupert Grint’s foul-mouthed character Julian on Servant is shocking to some seeing as he is known best for playing sweet and cute Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies. At the time, of course, he was just a pre-teen and teenager. Now 33, fans might have a tough time reconciling Grint’s promiscuous, brash character with the young wizard, who some believe was the best wizard in the Harry Potter movies.

With that said, Grint has taken on other more mature roles since rising to fame in the franchise, including both starring in and executive producing the series Snatch in 2017 and 2018. Like Kebbell and Free, Grint is also English but does a flawless American accent on the show.

Phillip James Brannon (Roscoe) – The Good Fight

Roscoe remains a mystery, at first trying to help Dorothy, Sean, and Leanne until he is seemingly kidnapped by the cult and potentially brainwashed. He shows up now and then, but everyone is still unsure where his allegiances now lie.

The actor who plays him, Phillips James Brannon, is likely most familiar with his role as Kevin Walker in the series The Good Fight. He has also had small and guest roles in shows like The Sinner, The Blacklist, Elementary, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Molly Griggs (Isabelle) – Dr. Death

Isabelle is the up-and-coming young news reporter who was seemingly out to take Dorothy’s job at the network, always there to handle a report and often chosen over Dorothy to do the more gripping stories. If she looks familiar, it is because she has been in a variety of shows.

Most recently, fans might recognize her from either Dr. Death, where she played Wendy Young, or Prodigal Son where she was Eve Blanchard. She also had a small role on HBO hit series Succession back in 2018 as Grace Roy, a woman who had a relationship with Roman at one point in time.

Tony Revolori (Tobe) – Spider-Man: No Way Home

Actor Tony Revolori has quite an impressive resume with tons of credits to his name, but the biggest box office hit would be Spider-Man: Ho Way Home, where he played Flash Thompson. He is one of the characters who fans believe deserved more screen time in Spider-Man: No Way Home. For those who aren’t fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), he also played Zero Moustafa in The Grand Budapest Hotel for which he earned numerous award nominations.

Revolori also appeared in the musical comedy Royalties on Quibi, which was created by, executive produced and stars Darren Criss. He will next be seen in the Disney+ fantasy series Willow, a sequel to the 1988 film of the same name.

Mathilde Dehaye (Snake) – Castle Rock

At first, it seemed as though Snake, one of the homeless youths setting up camp by the Turner’s home, was a threat. But it turned out to be that she and her friends were all former cult members who worshipped Leanne because she was brave enough to get out and believed she was a god of sorts.

While Snake is made up to look very scraggly and dirty, fans still might recognize the actor Mathilde Dehaye from her role as Amity on the series Castle Rock. Beyond those two roles, she has a smattering of other appearances that date back to 2015.

Boris McGiver (Uncle George) – House Of Cards

He was so convincingly creepy in his role as cult leader/member Uncle George that fans might not have even realized who Boris McGiver is and what other very different roles he has been in. The one that might be most prominent is House of Cards where he played journalist and editor Tom Hammerschmidt in various episodes throughout the show’s run. Tom was one of many characters Frank and Claire had killed on House of Cards.

But McGiver has appeared in plenty of other movies and TV shows. Some other notable ones include Boardwalk Empire (Sheriff Peter Lindsay), Evil (Monsignor Matthew Korecki), For Life (Glen Maskins), and Person of Interest (George Hesh).

Todd Waring (Frank) – The Young And The Restless

He has only appeared in a handful of episodes as Dorothy and Julian’s father, who seems to look down on Julian, fawn over Dorothy, and has a penchant for younger women on his arm. The actor Todd Waring has one of the longest resumes of the cast, dating back to 1981. Older fans might recall that he replaced Tom Hanks in Nothing in Common and Splash, Too in 1987 and 1988, respectively. He was also in the series Chasing Life from 2014-2015.

Waring had small roles on shows like NYPD Blue, Close to Home, and In Gayle We Trust. But fans probably know him best as Dr. Barrett/Todd Scheller Jr. from daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless, a role he played in a few episodes from 2007 through to 2015.
