UPDATE: Read everything revealed by the Aquaman set visit reports.

Aquaman will introduce us to the title character’s half brother, Orm, as played by actor Patrick Wilson in the upcoming film. Aquaman is scheduled to be released in December – just in time to attract huge Christmas audiences.

Aquaman is the follow-up to 2017’s Justice League, directed by James Wan, and starring Jason Momoa as the title character. In addition to Momoa and Wilson, Amber Heard plays Mera, Nicole Kidman plays Queen Atlanna, Dolph Lundgren takes on the role of King Nereus, and William Dafoe appears as Nuidis Vulko. In the film, Arthur Curry/Aquaman learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, and he must step up in order to be the leader of his people. This is Aquaman’s first solo film in the unofficially titled DC Extended Universe.

It was revealed in JoBlo set visit report that Aquaman’s half brother Orm, a brutal villain who will do whatever he needs to in order to take over, wants to destroy the surface dwellers, as the Atlanteans blame them for ruining and polluting the oceans. He does this by attacking coastal cities, while searching for Atlan’s trident, which would give him the full power he needs to completely wipe them out and take over. In one particular climactic scene, there is a big battle called The Battle of the Brine, which pits Orm’s army against the Fisherman Kingdom in an attempt to subjugate them.

The revelation of the new character with the details surrounding him is just another reason why Aquaman, which already has positive buzz, could be a major blockbuster. First, there’s Aquaman himself, who is half-human and half-Atlantean. His backstory is compelling and will entice viewers. Then, there is the fact that the film is directed by James Wan, who has been very strategic when it comes to hyping the film. He is not only one of the greatest present-day horror film directors, but has proven versatile by directing Furious 7, which quickly broke box office records. Then, there is the all-star cast. Momoa, Heard, Wilson, Kidman, and others have proven to be audience favorites in their recent projects, and that success can only help Aquaman.

Then again, the overhyping of the film could hurt its chances. At this point, one may wonder how the film could possibly live up to the hype. And although opening up a film right before Christmas usually helps box office results, Aquaman could find itself buried by other high-profile December films such as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-VerseBumblebee, and others. Still, the odds are in favor of Aquaman becoming a Christmas blockbuster.
