Arnold Schwarzenegger is Zeus in a poster for a new mystery project coming in February. Schwarzenegger has tackled more than his fair share of mythic roles during his career, most memorably that of Conan the Barbarian in a classic 1982 film.

Indeed Schwarzenegger himself is at this point an icon who has attained almost a mythic quality as a movie star. Of course most of the movies that put Schwarzenegger in the realm of the iconic-to-mythic – The Terminator, Total Recall, Predator, True Lies and others – are by this point well in the past. In recent years the actor has in fact taken on more of a general pop culture figure role, appearing in random videos to smash things with tanks or chastise people for not getting vaccinated, while occasionally making a movie where he mostly leans into his classic action-hero persona in a winking and sometimes even meta way.

But it appears Schwarzenegger is now ready to unleash a new project that will finally launch him into the realm of the mythic in a very literal sense. The actor just shared a new poster on Twitter in which he is cast as Zeus, while promising a new project coming in February. See the poster in the space below:

There is in fact nothing listed among Schwarzenegger’s upcoming projects that sees him playing Zeus. His only pending 2022 movie is Kung Fury 2 where he plays the president. His other upcoming projects include Triplets, which sees him reprising his Twins role alongside Danny DeVito, as well as The Legend of Conan (in which he obviously plays Conan) and the TV shows Utap and Outrider.

Indeed the best hint as to what Schwarzenegger’s Zeus poster is actually teasing is the “February” part, as that month sees the arrival of the biggest of all TV spectacles, the Super Bowl. Of course the coming of the Super Bowl means the coming of Super Bowl ads, and it’s a fair guess that Schwarzenegger’s poster is a tease for something he is cooking up with a brand to air during the big game. Huge stars becoming involved in Super Bowl ads is of course nothing new, as everyone from Will Ferrell to Keanu Reeves to Chris Evans to Liam Neeson to Betty White have been featured in the expensive spots, which often come to overshadow the game itself. The similarity between Schwarzenegger’s Zeus poster and a character poster for a real movie in fact might be a hint that he’s not alone in whatever this project is, and that more such posters could be appearing in the coming days and weeks, featuring other big stars perhaps playing mythical characters as well.
