The Bluth family is full of unique characters, but perhaps not one is more eccentric than Buster. An adult who is much more like a child, Buster never fails to bring laughter to the audience. He is an immensely awkward soul, as his social skills are not necessarily the best. This also does not particularly mesh well with his unhealthy bond with Lucille, with whom he still acts and is treated like a child. However, this is exactly what gives this character his own identity, while also providing some of the funniest moments on the show.

When it comes to Buster’s story, it may seem simple, but it is actually rather complex. In fact, against his entire goofy character, he ends up actually killing Lucille 2. Although this is not one of his finest moments, to say the least, he has an abundance of scenes that help carry the series because of just how hilarious they are.

10 When He Talks About Lucille To His Siblings

Throughout the series, it is apparent that Buster has an immensely close relationship with his mother, Lucille. Although it is nice in theory, it certainly crosses a line and he is willingly treated and acts like a child.

However, after going to spend time with Michael, he begins to blossom more into his adult self, even if it is short-lived. After hearing his siblings talk about his mother, he openly joins in. But, he takes it way too far when he lets out an array of insults about her, which are full of profanity.

9 When He Plays The Drums At The Worst Time

When Michael finds out that the entire family has been taking money from the Bluth Company for personal purchases, he is understandably livid. With George Sr. in prison and the company on the verge of losing its money, he puts his foot down and pulls them all in for a meeting.

From there, Michael states that nobody is allowed to take money anymore and that they all need to find jobs. However, right as Michael is getting his point across, Buster is hilariously playing the drums and progressively gets louder. Michael then stops his speech and asks Buster to move up to the balcony, but the latter responds with, “mom says it’s too windy.”

8 When He Feeds The Roomba

After Buster tragically loses his hand, he believes he is half-man, half-machine. This thought process is what sparks him to grow a close connection with the house’s Roomba vacuum.

In the scene, he decides to feed the Roomba cheese puffs, assuming it’s hungry. Of course, this device is a vacuum cleaner so it is incapable of feeling that way. Yet, Buster believes he can emotionally understand it, which is simply hilarious. However, it also is kind of him to want to take care of it.

7 When He Drinks Gob’s Fake Blood

In preparation for a big party, Gob has Buster help him bring in buckets of fake blood. When Michael asks why Gob has the blood, he tells him that it is actually just juice, which brings great elation to Buster.

Yet, Gob revealing this would come back to bite him, as Buster goes on to drink it all. After asking where it is, Buster runs into the room with the juice all over his face and shouts in a gleeful tone, “I love juice!”

6 When He Gets Sassy With Lucille About Juice

This fake blood situation is not the only time Buster’s love for juice is on display. In fact, his love for juice is so high that his mother actually has to hide it from him, as he gets out of control if he drinks too much from too much sugar.

Lucille makes Gob take Buster to a party because of this, too. Lucille spells out “juice” in the hopes of hiding the reason why Buster can’t stay home alone, but he shows great wit and responds with, “I can spell, mother. You spelled juice.” The delivery of this line is perfect and simply hilarious, as it shows a great mix of both his confidence and sassiness.

5 When He Catches Lucille 2’s Attention

Lucille believes that Buster would look better without his glasses, so she makes him attend Marta’s award show without them. Yet, Buster does not own contacts, so he can’t see anything.

He moves in a hilariously awkward way with a blank stare on his face. This somehow catches the attention of Lucille 2 and she thinks he is flirting with her. Thus, Buster finds his future love interest by just being himself, as she hands her number to the waiter to give to him.

4 When He Chases A Bird In The House

In Arrested Development, Buster often acts like a kid, which is usually hilarious. However, in some cases, it can create chaos for the people around him. A great example of this is when he chases a bird in the house.

He is aiming to get it out of the house, but also seems to be very excited by its presence. While trying to swat it away, he ends up breaking a bunch of appliances in the kitchen, including a pendant lamp. The scene incorporates a lot of physical comedy, which meshes well with Buster’s immense enthusiasm.

3 When He Takes Lucille’s Emergency Stash Of Wine

When left alone in the house, Buster looks through the cabinets. Of course, his primary goal in this is to find where Lucille is hiding his favorite thing on the planet, the juice. He believes he is successful in his quest when he finds Lucille’s emergency stash of wine.

Buster drinks a lot of it and it is the first time he has drank alcohol since he was an infant. The result of this is nothing short of hysterical, as he sings and dances to Bette Midler’s classic, “Rose’s Turn.”

2 When He Brings Rewards Home From The Army

Buster joins the army as a way to show Lucille that he is not a kid. However, it backfires, as he ends up missing his bus for training when he spends all his money on the arcade’s claw machine.

Thus, he returns home with a handful of stuffed animals. When Lucille says that she is happy that he quit, he lies and says the stuffed animals are his rewards “from Army.” He claims they are for marksmanship and sand racing, which, of course, is just far too silly for anyone to believe.

1 When He Fights Annyong For His Bagel

As previously stated, Buster is essentially a man-child in the show. His unhealthy relationship with Lucille takes an even weirder turn when she adopts Annyong, as she does it out of spite when Buster dates Lucille 2. From there, a sibling rivalry commences between Buster and his new younger brother.

The best scene between these two occurs when Buster wants a piece of Annyong’s bagel. Annyong states that Lucille forbids Buster from having carbohydrates until he gets a girlfriend his age. From there, they argue over who will be able to get a girlfriend first. Buster then tries to rip the bagel out of Annyong hands, while the latter laughs at all that is transpiring.
