Arrested Development was filled with some of the worst characters on TV. To be clear, they were amazing characters but absolutely terrible people. The worst of the worst were The Bluths, the family at the core of the series. They perpetually seemed to drag everyone around them deeper into their insanity, making their lives more complicated and difficult.

However, many of those people were no saints, either. There were satellite members of the family like Annyong and Steve Holt who were almost as bad as the Bluths. That being said, each one of them was the worst in their own ways.

10 STEVE HOLT: Wanted To Be A Bluth

A fact that only GOB and Steve are aware of through much of the series is that Steve is GOB’s son and a member of the Bluth family. This is assuming that neither GOB nor Steve has been dosed with “Forget-Me-Now” pills, and actually remember this fact.

One of the worst things about Steve is that he actually seems to want to be a member of the family, which is insane considering he’s had a front-row seat to their shenanigans.

9 ANNYONG:  His Real Name

Upset with Buster over an incident involving cottage cheese, Lucille Bluth signed up to adopt a child from Korea. Eventually, the child showed up, much to the surprise of Lucille who forgot about the pending adoption virtually immediately.

The child said “annyong” upon arriving, which means “hello” in Korean. The Bluths assumed this to be his name and kept calling him Annyong. His real first name was Hel-loh, which made it impossible to correct them, not that he tried.

8 STEVE HOLT: Tried To Bond With GOB

Saying that Steve drew the short end of the stick when it came to fathers is the understatement of the century. On a show overflowing with just awful parents, GOB might have been the worst of the bunch.

But even though he knew this, Steve still took every opportunity to bond with GOB, no matter how many times his absentee father burned him. In the end, Steve burned GOB, which was the first time he took control of their relationship.

7 ANNYONG: Feuded With Buster

Being that Annyong was essentially adopted to screw with Buster Bluth, it’s not surprising that Lucille’s youngest son didn’t get along well with him. Annyong just could not stop tormenting Buster, which was really kind of mean when you think about it.

Buster was basically incapable of defending himself, even against a child. Annyong bullied Buster the entire time he was around him.

6 STEVE HOLT: Yells His Own Name

The most insufferable trait Steve Holt had was how he celebrated virtually anything and everything. No matter what happens, he threw both arms in the air and yelled, “Steve Holt!” at the top of his lungs.

It was kind of funny and endearing at first but became increasingly annoying as the show went on and Steve grew older. That was kind of the point of Steve Holt, in the end.

5 ANNYONG: Lusted After Maeby

The Bluth family really had a problem with relatives lusting after each other. Keeping in mind that some of them were adopted, Annyong had a thing for Maeby. Technically, he was her uncle so it was a little weird. But George Michael was also attracted to Maeby, and they were technically cousins.

Making it even weirder, Maeby was into Steve Holt in high school, not knowing there was a familial connection between them. It was all pretty gross and unsettling.

4 STEVE HOLT: Dumb As Hell

Calling Steve stupid would be like calling the Titanic a canoe. It just doesn’t do the grandeur of his idiocy justice. He was held back in school on more than one occasion, preventing him from graduating at least twice. He is GOB’s son, after all.

If Steve actually graduated high school, that act might have been eligible to be considered a certified miracle. He grew up to become a pest control specialist, though Steve probably wasn’t someone who should be handling poisons or traps of any kind.

3 ANNYONG: Lived In The Walls

After a few appearances, Annyong just seemed to disappear. Being the award-winning mother that she was, Lucille did not notice she hadn’t seen her adopted son in months, likely assuming he had just gone back to Korea.

In Lucille’s defense, no one else, including Michael Bluth, noticed Annyong was gone, either. As it turned out, Annyong was living in the walls of Lucille’s apartment and it looked like he was spying on her.

2 STEVE HOLT: High School Jock

The worst thing about Steve Holt was the fact that he was a stereotypical high school jock, great at sports, bad at school, and popular with almost everyone. It was incredibly easy to dislike him since he was George Michael’s main competition for Maeby.

That being said, it was much easier to be Team Steve early in the series since George Michael was lusting after his cousin. It got worse once viewers found out Steve was related to them, too. No one would have been a winner in that scenario.

1 ANNYONG: A Mole

As it turned out, Annyong was a spy sent to exact revenge on the Bluths. Annyong’s grandfather created the concept of the frozen banana, only to have it stolen by George Sr. His life was destroyed by this heinous act, and his grandson joined the Bluths to spy on the family.

Annyong collected enough dirt on them to bring the SEC down on Lucille at the end of season three. It was a petty move in response to a very old slight. Maybe he was a real Bluth after all.
