New artwork for the second half of Attack On Titanhas been released, showcasing main characters Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert. The first half of the fourth and final season aired from December 2020 to March 2021. The season will adapt the final chapters of Hajime Isayama’s dark fantasy manga.

The second half of Attack on Titan season 4 will bring the saga of Eren Yeager (Yuki Kaji) to a close. Eren goes from a young man with a vendetta against the monstrous Titans, to joining the Survey Corps and becoming Humanity’s hope against the threat, to ultimately turning on his allies and friends in an apocalyptic plot to destroy the enemies of Paradis. Throughout his complex journey, Eren has met many characters, such as Marleyen agent Reiner Braun (Yoshimasa Hosoya), hidden royal heir Historia Reiss (Shiori Mikami), long-lost brother Zeke Yeager (Takehito Koyasu), and the cold, emotionless Survey Corps Captain Levi Ackerman (Hiroshi Kamiya), but has always been followed by adoptive sister, Mikasa Ackerman (Yui Ishikawa), and best friend Armin Arlert (Marina Inoue). Now, new pieces of artwork highlight the three main characters ahead of the second half’s premiere.

As reported by Comicbook.com, new promotional artwork for Attack on Titan season 4 was shared by users on the Attack on Titan subreddit, r/ShingekiNoKyojin. The three pieces of artwork feature Eren, Mikasa, and Armin preparing for battle against worn dark grey backgrounds. Each piece showcases each character in their later season designs, with Eren having his hair tied back in his hooded coat, while Mikasa and Armin don their Omni-directional mobility gear, the former wielding the gear’s blades while the latter takes up two thunder spears. Previous teaser trailers for Attack on Titan season 4 part 2 have given fans their best glimpses of events yet to come in the anime. A trailer released in December depicted Mikasa, Armin, and the Survey Corps taking up arms against the Yeagerists in the Shingashina district, while Eren faces Reiner in titan form. The trailer also teased Eren’s plans, showing the complex protagonist declaring his plans to annihilate his enemies, as well as glimpses of mysterious figure, Ymir Fritz, in the Paths.

With these new images providing the best look yet at the main characters in their most up-to-date designs, it is interesting to see how much their appearances reflect the story. Not only are they older, but Eren has abandoned any hint of his uniform and gear while those elements remain part of Mikasa and Armin’s ensemble. Even Mikasa’s scarf, a symbol of her bond with Eren, is gone as she takes arms against him. With battle lines drawn between friends, Attack on Titan season 4 part 2 promises to be an emotional, heartbreaking climax.
