James D’Arcy, who played human Jarvis in Agent Carter and Avengers: Endgameis willing to return for a future MCU project. J.A.R.V.I.S. was first introduced as an AI voice used by Tony Stark, voiced by Paul Bettany. The AI version of Jarvis returned in Iron Man 2, The Avengers, and Iron Man 3 before Jarvis became Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, it wasn’t until Agent Carter came out in 2015 that the real person Jarvis was based on was shown.

Agent Carter ran for two seasons on ABC before being canceled. D’Arcy appeared in all 18 episodes as Howard Stark’s trusty butler Edwin Jarvis. Jarvis was Peggy’s main ally throughout the series, and the character would later take care of Tony after the Winter Soldier killed Howard and Maria Stark. While Agent Carter season 2 was thought to be the end of D’Arcy’s MCU career, Jarvis made a surprise return in Avengers: Endgame during the time heist. Now, it looks like Jarvis could be making another MCU appearance.

In a recent interview with Digital Spy, D’Arcy was asked about his time in the MCU and the possibility of him returning for another project. Praising the Russo Brothers along with Agent Carter co-star Hayley Atwell, D’Arcy had nothing but fond memories and revealed he would be willing to reprise his role because he “loved playing Jarvis.” D’Arcy’s full comment from the interview can be read below:

I loved the experience, and I was really lucky – the Russo brothers have been very, very good to me, and they very sweetly invited me back to be in Endgame briefly, which was great. Someone told me afterwards, I basically became a Trivial Pursuit-type question. I’m the only character who’s gone from the television show to a film. And, you know, as I’ve said before, the Marvel universe is a funny old place. Nobody is ever dead. And now they’re into the metaverse.

Given the current state of the MCU, it’s very possible that Jarvis could indeed return. Marvel Studios loves sprinkling in known side characters into their blockbusters, and with the multiverse in disarray, there are a number of ways D’Arcy could return to his MCU character. If he were to return, the most likely place would probably be Armor Wars, which revolves around Don Cheadle as James Rhodes trying to prevent Stark tech from falling into the wrong hands. Because the show continues the legacy of Tony Stark, it could possibly include a flashback of a young Tony or even Edwin Jarvis.

There may not be a huge demand to see D’Arcy return as Jarvis, but it could serve the MCU well if it happens. Bringing him back again could further connect the TV side of the MCU to the film side, which is already starting to happen with Charlie Cox’s Daredevil appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, Marvel Studios has always distanced themselves from connecting movies to Agent Carter and, more specifically, Agents of SHIELD, so it’s possible Avengers: Endgame will remain D’Arcy’s last outing as Jarvis.
