A new fan-made Shazam! poster clarifies that John Krasinski is not in the film. Instead, Zachary Levi, who previously played Fandral (replacing Josh Dallas) in the Thor films, will officially debut as Warner Bros.’ latest DC superhero on the big screen in less than a year. The actor will star opposite Asher Angel as Billy Batson – a kid who has the ability to transform himself into a full-grown superhero upon uttering the magic word “Shazam.” The project will also mark the Mark Strong’s return into the superhero film genre after 2011’s Green Lantern as its primary antagonist, Doctor Silvana.

Yesterday, the first official look at Levi in his superhero suit emerged online via the actor’s Instagram account. This gave the one fan the idea to create a mock-up poster using the image, and the result is a hilarious one-sheet that encapsulates the fun vibe that people are getting thus far from the upcoming David F. Sandberg-directed flick.

Coming from Twitter user Walt is a play on fans’ first official look at Levi’s superhero character. Using an image lifted from what appears to be a Warner Bros.-commissioned poster, the artist added the actor’s earlier comments about the forthcoming film likening it to Tom Hanks’ Big, but with superpowers. It also made it clear that the movie will not be starring Krasinski, despite the A Quiet Place actor having an uncanny resemblance to Levi, especially in the photo used in the one-sheet.  The creator apparently put the poster together using only his phone, making it all the more impressive considering how it ended up. Check it out by clicking the link:

Krasinski is no stranger to the comic book movie genre. Years back, he was one of Marvel Studios’ top picks to play Captain America. The role eventually landed in Chris Evans’ lap and became one of the cornerstone heroes of the franchise. But more recently, buzz about the possibility of him taking on the role of Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic (alongside his real-life wife Emily Blunt as Sue Richards/Invisible Woman) in MCU’s version of the Fantastic Four has been the topic of discussion of fans online. Krasinski shared that he’s interested in the role, but with the Disney and Fox merger still in process, it would still take a while before any plans for the reboot is announced.

The latest reveal offers fans their first look at Levi’s upcoming DC hero – something that they have been clamoring for since those set photos and videos leaked earlier this year. But the manner in which it was released is unusual considering that it wasn’t from a proper press release. Instead, it was just a casual social media post by Levi that wasn’t even properly framed. Sandberg has previously explained that “plans changed” regarding the rollout of official character portraits despite being supposedly already prepared months ago. With the film less than a year away from hitting theaters, Warner Bros. will need to formally market the movie soon, perhaps in tandem with James Wan/Jason Momoa’s Aquaman which will debut four months before Shazam!.
