Star Wars‘ Darth Maul and The Mandalorian‘s Baby Yoda come together in a sculpt revealing Baby Darth Maul. Though Maul and Baby Yoda are both well-known Star Wars characters, Darth Maul has been around much longer. First appearing in the prequel trilogy, Maul has gone on to feature in several other Star Wars properties. These include Star Wars RebelsStar Wars: The Clone Wars, and Solo: A Star Wars Story. Though Peter Serafinowicz originally voiced the character, Sam Witwer has taken over in the years since. In fact, Serafinowicz revealed he recorded the dialogue for Solo: A Star Wars Story, but Lucasfilm ultimately decided to go with Witwer.

Meanwhile, Baby Yoda is a newer introduction to the Star Wars‘ universe, having just debuted last year in The Mandalorian. However, he captured the hearts of Star Wars fans everywhere in a short amount of time. The Mandalorian‘s impressive debut on Disney+ was partly credited to Baby Yoda, with season 2 on the way in October. Darth Maul and Baby Yoda haven’t crossed paths yet, as Maul hasn’t appeared on The Mandalorian. However, several prominent Star Wars characters are expected to play a role in season 2, including Ahsoka Tano and Boba Fett.

The Baby Yoda/Darth Maul sculpt comes from Chris Bobinski, Studio Asset Director at Guru Studio, who makes the children’s program PAW Patrol. In Bobinski’s image, Darth Maul comes out more prominently, though it’s clearly done in the style of Baby Yoda, with a similar shape and clothing. Baby Darth Maul is certainly cuter than his scary adult counterpart, though he does still have his trademark horns and tattoos. Check out Bobinski’s work below:

@dave.filoni I figure Clone Wars and The Mandalorian needs to connect somehow. I’m guessing this is not how. Who knows. Ha. But the ending of The Clone Wars was fantastic. @iamraypark and @switwer1 once again crushed Darth Maul. Eventually I’ll get to an Ashoka Sculpt. #starwars #theclonewars #babyyoda #thechild #themandalorian #darthmaul #disney #zbrush #zbrushathome #keyshot3d

Since the release of The Mandalorian, Baby Yoda has been a popular subject for both professional and fan artists alike. Some have taken a fairly straightforward approach, while others have done something similar to Bobinski and mashed The Child with other characters. The resulting art has included Joker, Captain America, and Star Wars‘ own Jabba the Hut. All told, work by Bobinski and others shows just how creative the Internet can be when confronted with a character as lovable as Baby Yoda.

Bobinski’s caption is also interesting, as it notes The Mandalorian and Star Wars: The Clone Wars haven’t intersected yet. Though The Clone Wars is now over (with creator Dave Filoni confirming it’s actually done), the live-action debuts of some characters on The Mandalorian should help fans sad the series is over. Until Darth Maul inevitably pops up on The Mandalorian with Baby Yoda, fans can enjoy this mashup of the two well-known Star Wars‘ characters.
