Clay Harbor, an alum of The Bachelorette, has seemingly been keeping abreast with the current season of The Bachelor as he tweeted at Teddi Wright, one of the recently eliminated contestants, to introduce her to his cousin Andrew Spencer, who was in The Bachelorette season 17. The idea of the two being a couple could have been a reality as The Bachelor almost made Spencer the lead of season 26. The speculation that Spencer was going to star this season on The Bachelor came from Harbor who, in an episode of the She’s All Bach podcast, said that he and his cousin were under the impression that the job was going to be Spencer’s.

The producers of the show battled with choosing from many of the contestants from The Bachelorette season 17, including Spencer and Greg Grippo, but decided to go with Clayton Echard, who appeared in the 18th season of the show. The report stated that the producers chose Echard because they resonated with his story and decided to give him a chance. Bachelor Nation fans were not happy about the producers’ choice, which became evident to Echard, who then started to feel regret about being the new bachelor as he was not expecting a great magnitude of backlash. While Harbor did not make comments that show whether he disproves the choice for the season, he did say that he believes it would have been great to have an African American bachelor.

Harbor’s first tweet directed at Wright was published on January 10, and though neither Spencer nor Wright replied, the tweet gained a lot of traction from fans of the franchise who also think the two would be a good pair. The lack of response from Spencer and Wright seemed like motivation for Harbor as he made another tweet on February 21 saying, “Teddi date my cousin.” Currently, Spencer is single, but Harbor’s “matchmaking” tweets about Wright, a recent competitor in the current season of The Bachelor, could change this. Both Spencer and Wright have calm and kind personalities, which could make them a good pair. The two would possibly be good for each other as Wright is a hopeless romantic and Spencer enjoys making grand romantic gestures. Apart from their synonymous love traits, both individuals are level-headed, career-driven and strong people. Wright works as a surgical unit nurse, and Spencer plays professional football.

Harbor is known for being supportive of his cousin Spencer, and this was evident when Spencer was eliminated from The Bachelorette season 17. Spencer’s time on The Bachelorette ended dramatically when Katie Thurston, the season’s lead, did not give Spencer a rose. Not only were fans confused, but so were Spencer and Thurston herself, who was not confident in the decision she made. The two shared a moment after his elimination in which Spencer left a note telling Thurston that he would wait for her if she decided to change her mind. The note caused Thurston to change her mind, and the professional football player was re-invited to the show, but he declined the offer. Reports from Reality TV World state that leaving the show was not an easy decision for Spencer to make, and the difficulty in making this decision was intensified when Thurston followed Spencer down a staircase and cried in his arms. Despite this vulnerable moment between the two, Spencer no longer wanted to date within the Bachelor world and would have considered reconnecting with Thurston otherwise. Harbor’s support for his cousin was evident in these reports. He believed Spencer handled the situation perfectly.

There is no certainty that the two will respond to Harbor’s tweets, but the likelihood of the pair meeting is not impossible. When Wright was eliminated from The Bachelor, members of Bachelor Nation began to speculate that she would be among one of the alums that would be chosen to be on Bachelor in Paradise, the franchise’s spin-off show that features former competitors from The Bachelor and Bachelorette and gives them a new opportunity to find love. Given Spencer’s popularity, he could be a potential participant in the spin-off show as well, and he has made claims that he would agree to be on the show if he did not find love before. If the two are on the show simultaneously, Harbor’s matchmaking attempt is sure to stir conversation between the two.

The Bachelor season 26 finale airs Monday, March 14 and Tuesday, March 15 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
