Bachelor: Gabby Windey’s Dad’s Love Actually Scene Confuses Viewers

The most recent episode of The Bachelor headed to the hometowns of the four women in contention for Clayton’s final rose, and Gabby’s dad showed up in a way that inspired a wide range of responses on social media. During his travels, Clayton progressed all of his relationships and made positive impressions on all of the women’s families. Even Rachel’s dad, who had been billed as extremely difficult to impress, was won over by Clayton’s personality and gave him approval to marry his daughter. The end of the episode had the whole group returning to the mansion, where Clayton reluctantly prepared to break another heart.

During the hometown visits, each of the women shared their feelings for Clayton, with all of them declaring some state of being in love with him. For his part, Clayton divulged very little other than to say that he hadn’t told any of the women that he was in love yet. His elimination of Serene came as a shock to her, especially as she hadn’t seen it coming. Admitting beforehand that she would be broken-hearted if she didn’t receive a rose, she listened to his reasoning for the breakup somewhat stoically before departing with a frosty tone.

Gabby welcomed Clayton to Colorado but shared her disappointment that her father would be unable to meet him because of her step-mom’s health issues. After an emotional gathering with extended family, however, Gabby’s dad showed up unexpectedly for a drive-by visit that mimicked a scene from the movie, Love Actually, and left a lot of viewers confused. After exiting the car, he peeled off a series of poster boards expressing written sentiments that Gabby read from the front porch. Neither spoke during the exchange, but Gabby was moved to tears by his display. Reddit users chimed in on the unusual gesture, and opinions ran the gamut. User Sgt_Wojohowitz wondered, “Am I the only one who thought that doing a scene from Love Actually was actually bizarre? What he said was so incredibly generic. He didn’t even speak to her? Just held up cards like he was in a movie or trying to go viral?”

The confusion didn’t end there. One person thought he did it that way thinking he’s deaf, and another didn’t even know that it was her father. While some were touched by the scene, it fell flat for others, with several proposing that it had been manufactured by producers of The Bachelor. User ariagrayx wondered, “Why were they acting like they couldn’t speak to each other? Why couldn’t Clayton stand on the stoop with her and wave hello? So many questions.” User AltonIllinois agreed, saying, “I don’t understand why she didn’t call Clayton out for them to meet from the porch? It feels so silly for him to drive all the way out there for him to not even meet Clayton from 50 feet away.” Many wondered why they hadn’t used FaceTime or Zoom.

As with everything on The Bachelor, opinions about the women and their families cover the spectrum. Clayton, who has kept his cards close to the vest regarding his own emotions, is sure to surprise the audience as the season approaches its finale. With Clayton’s fantasy suites coming next, fans are eager to see how he juggles his relationships with the three women who remain. Each of them has declared her love for Clayton in some form or fashion, which means that two more hearts will be broken before he presents his final rose.
