The first episode of The Bachelor season 25 has just kicked off, and Matt James is already winning hearts. Many viewers are praising him for being open, vulnerable, and authentic with each contestant right off the bat. However, some fans are also curious to know how he learned the names of 32 gorgeous girls so quickly. It’s a lot to take in for the viewers, who can rewind, pause, and use Google to catch every name. But how did the newest member of Bachelor Nation pull it off? Apparently, he used the production team!

Many ABC viewers just witnessed a heartwarming love story on The Bachelorette season 16 between Tayshia Adams and her fiancé, Zac Clark. Now, all viewers have their eyes on the 28-year-old first Black Bachelor. He’s tall (like, really tall), handsome, successful, and grounded. Right from the first episode, he was able to connect with both his contestants and the audience at home. Although Matt was nervous throughout the cocktail party, it was great to see that he remembered what each contestant said to him during their first meet-cute. He even impressed Abigail Heringer by remembering her backstory.

Well, all the credit can’t go to Matt. The production team helps a lot to make sure the lead comes across as a very sincere person who possesses a miraculous memory. Some of the previous leads have spilled the beans about how they actually remembered the names of all the contestants they met during their first night. The former Bachelorette from season six, Ali Fedotowsky, admitted (via Popsugar), “Throughout the night a producer is never far from your side and constantly reminds you about everyone’s name.“

Since it is very difficult to memorize over 30 strangers’ names in a span of a few hours, The Bachelor production team has come up with an idea. They use “flashcards with the pictures and names of every contestant.” To make the process even smoother during the rose ceremony, the “Bachelor/ette says a few names at a time and then leaves to get the next few names.“

Then, of course, the post-production process plays a major role in editing out any goof-ups, which actually happened in 2004 with then-Bachelor Jesse Palmer. He wanted to give the rose to a contestant named “Karen” but accidentally called “Katie,” another contestant. But it worked out, and both ladies got the rose by the end of the night. The Bachelor viewers watch the streamlined version of the whole process, and there is so much reality TV magic occurring behind the scenes.
