Alana Milne may have gotten cozy with Chris Conran on Bachelor In Paradise in a suspiciously quick period of time, but she’s fiercely denying claims that the pair were in a relationship prior to filming. Unlike Brendan Morais and Pieper James, who spilled on camera Brendan’s deceptive plot to lead Natasha Parker on until his actual love interest got there, Alana says she didn’t go on the show with malicious intent. As a steady stream of hate floods her inbox on social media, she’s attempting to defend herself.

For some time, Chris, who was eliminated during week 1 on Tayshia Adams’ season of The Bachelorette, enjoyed a strong connection with Jessenia Cruz from Matt James’ season of The Bachelor. Though she was forming a bond with Ivan Hall, Jessenia decided to pursue Chris. The pair appeared to be solid. That is, until Alana Milne, also from Matt’s season, hit the beach with one intention – to date Chris. While at host Tituss Burgess’ VIP party, Jessenia spotted her man kissing Alana mere minutes after she walked in. The other contestants believed they had a romantic interest in each other before the show. Following a wave of criticism, Chris and Alana packed their bags and left in separate cars as the rest of the cast rallied around Jessenia.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Shortly after the episode aired, Alana took to her Instagram Story in an attempt to set the record straight. She said, “I didn’t have a plan or a pre-existing relationship with Chris going into ‘Paradise.’ I really was just excited to experience it, like everyone else there … I came on the show with pure intentions and the rest was out of my control.” Alana went on to say that much of what was shown was heavily edited by producers and therefore viewers don’t know the “real” Alana. She also pleaded with Bachelor Nation to stop sending her hate. “I urge you to realize you’re sending these hateful messages to a real human being … please be good to one another & please leave me alone.”

Chris and Alana may have left Paradise amid much drama, but in real life, it appears they picked up where they left off. On Alana’s Instagram page, they can be spotted commenting flirty things back and forth. For example, on a recent bikini post by Alana, which she captioned, “When the fries are extracrispy,” Chris wrote, “Extra crispy please.” Alana responded with two smiling emojis with the tongue sticking out. On another bathing suit photo, Chris commented, “Dios mio.”

According to Jessenia, Chris and Alana did know each other beforehand, but he claimed he had no feelings for Alana, despite her advances. Viewers applauded Riley Christian and Joe Amabile for calling Chris out on his lies and supporting Jessenia. But now, they want to see the same support shown for Natasha after Brendan’s heartless betrayal. The latest episode concluded with Demi Burnett preparing to confront Brendan and Pieper, neither of whom received much backlash from the other contestants. Hopefully, Demi, who has a knack for instilling fear in others, will get Natasha the justice she deserves.

Bachelor In Paradise airs Mondays and  Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
