Bachelor In Paradise: Ashley Iaconetti & Jared Haibon Reveal Baby Name

Bachelor In Paradise couple Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon announced the name of their baby boy, who is due on February 10th. Ashley and Jared met on season 2 of the show in 2015. Ashley knew immediately that she and Jared were soulmates, but it took Jared a bit longer to realize that he and Ashley were meant to be. After dating in 2016, they returned to the show for season 3, and Jared wanted to date other people. Ashley and Jared remained friends until 2018, when, on a trip to St. Lucia, Jared finally realized that he was in love with Ashley. He proposed in June 2018, and the engagement aired on Bachelor in Paradise season 5. On August, 11, 2019, Ashley and Jared got married. They spent their honeymoon in Italy and Greece.

In July 2021, Ashley and Jared announced that they were expecting a baby. The next month, they revealed that the baby will be a boy. Ashley has been very candid about her difficult pregnancy, documenting and sharing her struggles with morning sickness and other ailments on social media to help other pregnant women know that they are not alone. Ashley will give birth in less than a month, so she has temporarily moved from her home in Rhode Island with Jared to her parents’ home in Virginia. This is because Ashley will give birth at the hospital where her father has worked as an anesthesiologist for the past 28 years. Jared has been commuting back and forth because he is working at the couple’s new café, Audrey’s, which opened in December in Rhode Island.

In an Amazon Live broadcast, Ashley and Jared revealed the name of their baby boy: Dawson Demitri Haibon. The name comes from the main character, Jack Dawson, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, from the film, Titanic. Ashley has loved the movie since she was a little girl. Jared explained that Ashley told him that she wanted to name their first born Dawson back when they were still just friends. Ashley liked the name for either a boy or a girl, but Jared liked it better for a boy. They both love the name. Jared also loved the name Jack, but they chose Dawson because it is a little bit more unique and has no “mental ties” to anybody else because they do not know anyone named Dawson. Ashley shared, “Jared and I are hopeless romantic, cinematic people. Naming a kid after a Leo character is very natural for us.” Ashley stressed that the name does not come from Dawson’s Creek, and she has never seen the show. She said, “It’s after a Leo character, not a James Van Der Beek character.” She even joked that she would have used DiCaprio for the baby’s middle name. For the actual middle name, Ashley was considering Dominick, after her father, but her sister would like to give her future son that name. Instead, Ashley chose Demitri, which came from a list of baby names that Ashley’s sister created when she was a kid. Her sister had actually liked the name, Demitrius, and Ashley shortened it to Demitri. Jared liked the name Demitri because it is the alias of Tom Cruise’s character, Ethan Hunt, at the beginning of Mission Impossible 2. Now that they have selected a name, Jared said, “It feels much more real now that we call him Dawson.”

Ashley and Jared revealed that there really were not any other names in the running for the baby, but they do like some other names. Jared loves the name Brady because he is a big fan of Tom Brady, and Ashley loves it too, but Jared already had a dog named Brady. Jared liked Sebastian because of the movie, Cruel Intentions, but it made Ashley think of the crab from The Little Mermaid when she heard it. They both liked Ethan from the Mission Impossible films and even shared that they liked Anakin from the Stars Wars series, even though it is not a common name. Ashley and Jared admitted that they did not love any girl names, but Ashley liked the name Arena because she feels most alive when she is in an arena. She also liked Logan or Cameron for a girl. Jared liked Logan because of its association with the Wolverine films.

Baby Dawson is one of the most anticipated Bachelor Nation babies. His parents fell in love after meeting on Bachelor In Paradise, and have had one of the most beautiful romances, like something straight out of the movies. It is no wonder that his name was inspired by one of the greatest cinematic love stories of all time. Ashley and Jared have so much to look forward to as they await the birth of Dawson Demitri Haibon.
