Clayton Echard’s lengthy apology statement to Elizabeth Corrigan may have seemed heartfelt to some, but Lyndsey Windham, a recent eliminee of The Bachelor season 26, isn’t buying it. After watching the scene unfold on TV, in which Shanae Ankney poked fun at Elizabeth’s ADHD diagnosis, Clayton explained that he wasn’t aware of this situation. Had he known, Shanae would’ve been sent home “immediately.” However, according to Lyndsey, Clayton did know.

On Monday night’s episode of The Bachelor, Lyndsey, Sierra Jackson and Jill Chin were sent packing as Shanae lived to see yet another week. Despite receiving countless warnings about Shanae, including how she tossed the winning football team’s trophy into the bushes, Clayton granted her a rose following her fake display of tears and remorse, which she compared to the likes of Meryl Streep. Now, Shanae must put her acting chops to the test once again during a two-on-one date with Genevieve Parisi.

Shortly after her elimination, Lyndsey made a TikTok that ultimately calls Clayton’s apology to Elizabeth a sham. Lyndsey reflected on her conversation with Clayton post-Baywatch group date, the majority of which was spent discussing Shanae. According to Lyndsey, he wanted to know why Shanae felt so bullied in the mansion. Lyndsey was upfront about what happened with Elizabeth. “I explained to him word for word that I would never want anyone to feel bullied. However, when someone is mocking and making fun of someone’s mental disabilities, that’s crossing the line and I don’t want to surround myself with people like that, so I’m not gonna go out of my way to be their best friend,” she reflected. “At the end of the day, everything happens for a reason and no hard feelings. However, you knew and you kept her.”

The majority of Lyndsey’s followers praised her for speaking the truth and denounced Clayton. One fan compared Clayton to former The Bachelor lead Juan Pablo and said, “He doesn’t seem to care about anything other than making out with everyone.” Another agreed, saying, “He 100% knew and kept her bc she just kept throwing herself at him every chance she gets.” Several were in agreement that they were glad Lyndsey, Sierra and Jill got sent home because they’re too good for Clayton and deserve better.

Though Clayton keeps sharing anti-Shanae posts on Twitter to restore his already-low likability among Bachelor Nation, including one in which he stated Shanae killed his credibility, his retweeting efforts are for naught. Fans lack sympathy for him since he was consistently warned about Shanae by Lyndsey, Sierra and others. Many hope that the waters of Niagara Falls help wake Clayton up to reality on the two-on-one date. If it doesn’t, another apology statement for Genevieve can likely be expected. But hopefully, this season is nearing the end of its drawn-out “Shanae Show” segment.
