Peter Weber and Kelley Flanagan from The Bachelor were supposed to have a big-city fairytale after making a joint move to New York City. But following the couple’s unexpected split a few weeks ago, Pilot Pete headed to the Big Apple solo. Despite finding himself single once again, Peter seems to be doing just fine at his new crib, thanks to the stunning view.

News of the breakup shocked fans on New Year’s Eve when Peter took to Instagram to announce that he and Kelley “decided to go our separate ways.” The two initially met and hit it off at a hotel prior to Peter’s Bachelor reign last year. Though Kelley was not one of the 29-year-old’s final contenders, they reconnected after his failed engagement to contestant Hannah Ann Sluss and his short-lived relationship with runner-up Madison Prewett. It appeared that, after much trial and error, Peter found the love of his life. In fact, he and the 28-year-old attorney had plans to take the next step and move in together in New York.

Instead, that dream of a shared living space has transformed into a luxurious bachelor pad. Peter recently moved from Los Angeles to the East Coast alone. On Instagram, Peter shared a photo of himself smiling on the balcony of his new home with the caption “Grateful @summitnyc #LiveAboveItAll.” The midtown apartment features a breathtaking view of the entire city. As reported by People, Peter wasn’t completely isolated on move-in day. Bachelorette castmate Dustin Kendrick stopped by to check out his friend’s place, and shared a hilarious video of the two dancing in a moving-box-filled room.

Familiar faces from the Bachelor franchise commented on the photo. Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise alum Dylan Barbour said, “Give us the tour Pete.” Of course, Peter’s beloved mother Barb, whose emotional outbursts are still depicted in memes, chimed in with, “LIVING THE DREAM!! Blessings.” It’s rumored that Barb’s lack of boundaries when it comes to her son was a key factor in the demise of his relationship with Kelley.

The pair was together for a total of eight months. Though there’s surely some heartbreak brewing beneath the surface, Peter looks content in his latest Instagram post. He looks happy. Maybe after four back-to-back relationships (let’s not forget his windmill adventures with Hannah Brown on The Bachelorette), the single life is exactly what he needs.

It’s also possible that he’s smiling because it’s not actually the end with Kelley. In March, she intends to move to New York as well. On an Instagram post, Kelley said, “I’ll be in the Florida Keys until March then still making the move to New York! I’m excited to share my next chapter with you guys and I’ll try to be as open as I can knowing that I will hit struggles along the way. In the meantime, I am trying to figure out my future living situation in New York (searching for a roommate and apartment), spending time with my friends and family and focusing on my career.”

Given the size of NYC, it’s not likely that the paths of Peter and Kelley will accidentally cross. But if they wanted to give things another shot, being in the same city (and far away from Barb) makes it pretty easy.
