Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe, co-hosts of The Bachelorette, are excitedly voicing their support for Jesse Palmer, who was recently announced as the new host of The Bachelor. All three have previously led a season of the franchise, which allows them to serve in a mentorship capacity for the current lead throughout the grueling journey to find love. The dynamic duo of Tayshia and Kaitlyn supported Katie Thurston and now, Michelle Young, and they feel Jesse will do the same for rising Bachelor star Clayton Echard.

The search for a new host began following Chris Harrison’s controversial departure from his long-time role. Most of Bachelor Nation was pleased when Tayshia and Kaitlyn were tapped to co-host back-to-back seasons of The Bachelorette. They provided comedic relief and much-needed support for Katie. An unforgettable moment was when Katie locked herself in the bathroom after Greg Grippo’s dramatic parting, and Kaitlyn sat outside on the floor to comfort her. For the upcoming season of The Bachelor, Jesse Palmer, who led season 5, will single-handedly take the reins at host. It’s currently unclear whether or not Tayshia and Kaitlyn will return for another Bachelorette season after Michelle’s, or if Jesse will be the permanent franchise host.

Regardless, the two are extremely supportive of Jesse’s new role and believe he’s well-suited to give advice to Clayton. In an interview with ET, Kaitlyn said, “I think it makes sense to have women around for ‘The Bachelorette,’ and men around for ‘The Bachelor,’ just to be supportive. He’s been the ‘Bachelor,’ we’ve been the ‘Bachelorettes.’ It’s kind of nice to have that perspective. I’m here to validate your feelings and what you’re going through.” Tayshia echoed Kaitlyn’s sentiment and shared how Jesse may be what the show needs to keep viewers watching. “I think with Jesse, we might be able to bring it back to how the franchise used to be,” she said. “He can give some pretty good pointers.”

For the past year, the Bachelor franchise has been under much scrutiny, from Chris Harrison’s downplay of Rachael Kirkconnell’s Old South Ball attendance, to racist and homophobic tweets of contestants being uncovered. The fandom has been divided as some mourn the loss of their favorite host while others demand change. It’s possible that Jesse is just what the show needs to enter a fresh era. The former professional NFL player appears to be drama-free. He’s a staple host for Disney, keeps his love life with new wife Emely Fardo under wraps, and operates an Instagram account for his Aussie doodle LouLou.

Though Jesse’s season of The Bachelor did not end in an engagement to love interest Jessica Bowlin, he understands firsthand the challenges that come with getting to know and form relationships with 30-plus women. Given Clayton’s unorthodox welcome into the franchise, he’ll likely need Jesse’s guidance. Clayton is a contestant on Michelle’s season of The Bachelorette, which means this is the first time the next lead was revealed before the person’s inaugural season even started. There are mixed emotions surrounding the next star of The Bachelor, but fans are convinced anything will be better than Matt James, who they felt was “extremely boring.”
